I agree the floor pan does not make a sound structural element. The box tubing is better. Better yet is to cut the floor and use rectangular box tube welded to the floor. That also gives a great mounting point for a roll bar main hoop which should always be tied to the frame. If you're not using a cage the box tube is fine.

I have used Auto Rust Technicians for pieces for the rear half of Jeep frames, they are great products and went in pretty easily, just a little tweaking.

I guess it depends on if you want something molded and tweak it or something that is solid...

The reply about torsional stiffness made sense to me. It seems a better fit for me to only weld on each end. I was not looking forward to trial fitting and modifying the pan fit connectors anyway. Nice to have another option out there. If its as strong as stated then it will be both easier to put in and save a lot of time too. I like the look of the rectangular connectors over the pipe style weld/bolt ons that I have seen before.

For ultimate results I'd weld ART connectors then weld up the sides using USCartool connectors or just close the sides up with sheetmetal, just spend some time tracing the pattern out with profile gauge, that way the underside will look factory clean and more rigid than a car with ART or USCartool connectors

Stefan, we have 18 gauge steel filler plates for that exact purpose. They cover the gaps, and look pretty clean when installed.

Do you have to weld all the way along the plates against the underside of the floor or can you weld spots and then use a filler or something to fill in and smooth the look out?

I would weld them up completely for best results ,since they don't have flanges or tabs

I agree, it would not look as clean with skip welds instead of all around welds.

We don't weld them solid to the floor pan. Its a filler plate, it simply fills in the area between the connector and the floor. No need to be a solid weld. We burn them in where its easy to, then use a good quality flexible seam sealer to dress it up. Its just cosmetic, its not structural in any way. I dont use body filler, as it can crack, or break, plus its a real pain if you need to remove it. On the bottom where it fits to the tube connector, I put plug weld holes, so you can get a good clean look. Sure you have to grind a bit off the top of the weld, depends on your welding abilities, some guys can spin a nice plug weld in there and you can not tell its even there.
I sell then for $39.00 for the 4 of them.
The nice thing about them is its easy to put them in, you can take it and grind a spot, fit it up, maybe grind another spot, fit it up.
I dont care what anyone says, I have never seen 2 cars identical underneath, especially the floors.
