Quick Fender Tag question?
« on: December 05, 2008 - 12:57:42 AM »
So.

67 'Cuda
Where can I find it on the fender?
What side?
Is it visible with the wheel on?
Or does placement depend on the car?
If I find it, how do I find out what it means. Paint codes, engine codes, etc.

Thanks,
tdub

The "fender" tag isn't really on the fender, its on the inner fender, inside the engine compartment. Should be on the driver's side, at the top of the inner fender in the middle. Once you find it you can enter the codes into a decoder, one here at http://www.stockmopar.com/mopar-fender-tag-decoder.php. Its not perfect (too generic), but it will give you a starting place.

Question about the HRK4 or MRK4 code, H designates "High" grade, M stands for "Medium" Grade. My fender tag is not in the best of shape, I can't tell if the letter is an M or an H. Is there a way to tell by looking at your actual upholstery? What distinguishes between the 2 grades?

It may help to put a piece of paper over the tag, and lightly run a pencil over it to highilght the raised letters.

I have a 440-6 RT/SE, I don't suppose I could assume since the car is a "Special Edition" it would have the High Grade upholstery?

thanks for clearing that up, the reason I thought it might be either an H or an M is that on the decoder weblink that someone included in a reply, the letter M comes up as an option, for upholstery and like I said my tag is a little hard to read in some spots, the RK4 is clear as day, but the 1st letter I couldn't tell was an H or an M.
