Well, a couple things are for sure........never underestimate the human race, here given the chance someone had a chance to do the right thing and didn't (tell the seller who needed $ the true value of the car) and that in fact there are many people out there ignorant to things around them (the true value of the car). I have been chasing a hemi cuda in the country here for many years and I am getting closer to finding it. I have always thought about if I was offered it for a small amount of money would I buy it or tell the owner the true value of the car. Many of you will have different opinions about this, and maybe none is wrong. I guess it depends on your upbringing and character. Some will say you paid what they were asking and others will just be happy with the find and the knowledge you were honest with the seller. I do believe that these deals are still out there and enjoy the stories behind there discovery. All in all I hope she does whatever makes her happy with the car-if she restores it or paints it, isn't that what the hobby is all about?

I could actually see this happening as you'd be surprised how oblivious some people are to the world around them.  Maybe this guy never knew how to decode the fender tag/V.I.N. and really was under a rock most of his life.

Also, remember when we got a new member sometime last year who said he wanted some guidance for his original 11,XXX mile '71 Hemi 'Cuda hardtop.  Many called bs, but he did come through with factual information and Barry vouched for him.   Bearcuda has no reason to lie, so unless his business partner/friend is pulling his chain, I can believe this really did happen.  Deals can still be made, even if they seem nearly impossible to the educated majority.

Case in point, I found my '73 Chally in a local paper with the title (in bold), "1973 Challenger....$2,000" (got it for $1,750).  This was back before the big E-body hype came into play in the economy, but it could have easily been sold for $3,500-$4,000, IMHO.

Thanks CHallenged, I'm texting my buddy right now about the responses on here. He just texted and said that he's known her (as a customer) for about 6 years, and that she was being very open and seemingly honest about the whole thing. I'm dying for pics too. He's hasn't gotten a response back from her regarding pics, but I'm hoping she comes through.

You'd be surprised how low people can actually stoop at times...If given the opportunity to cheat someone else, many people will take that chance to better themselves even if it's morally degrading...It's sad to know that, but it's the truth.

I will say one thing and leave it at this. In a normal world I could never afford a car like that. What would be the point of offering 5k or 10k or 20k when the guy sets the price at 2k? What if he were to cool off and do some research and find out its worth well over 100k? I know it sounds horrible to some and I might get judged by you guys but if I were to fall upon a deal like that I would not be able to write the check fast enough. Everyone I know or know of who lives and loves muscle cars grew up dreaming of finding the deal of the century. I am just being honest by saying I would go for it. If anyone else wants to be honest and pay market value when a deal like that is on the table then do it to it pruit.

Yes its sad that this guy did not know what he had but if a person sets a predetermined price for an item then it his loss for not doing his research. Just my 2 cents.

My  , I'd pay the asking price at the time, although if I could afford more, I might offer more.  Maybe not what the car was really worth, but more.  I'd be comfortable with that decision as long as I kept the car.  But if I were to sell it at a later date for more than I had in it, I'd be sure the previous owner got some of the profit.

So ya never know, but this smells funny.



I also know of 2 70 Hemi Cudas in a barn.  Guy won't let me take pics of them.
