Re stamping a new door tag
« on: December 05, 2008 - 10:33:33 PM »
I see these quite a bit for for sale. But who is able to put your vin# back on?
Does it look authentic when it is done? Are the font correct looking?
Whats it cost?

That one does not look correct......

As far as I know, only ONE place is licensed by Chrysler Corp. to re-issue these, they are accurate.

Look here;

Edit;

ECS imprints the numbers for you.

Thanks Barry,

I'll go with them then.
Any pics showing an OEM vs. theirs to compare? Just curious if you do.

Those are nice. I am going to get one for my car. I was talking with the painter this morning because they are about to do my jambs, engine bay, trunk, interior etc. and we were just saying how whenever someone tries to save the door decal it always looks fugly. Seems like to me that 50 bucks is a small price to pay for having a clean looking door. To me it is also so crazy as to how a simple paint job can end up being such a huge deal. It seems like it just snowballs and before you know it you are pretty much restoring the car lol. I should finally be able to add some pics soon showing some actual progress on my car, that is as soon as I can get the dang digital camera back from my wife lol.

 Thats interesting that some one replace an original thats in real nice shape with a repop  :clueless:,,,,,  on my JS23VOB the original sticker is in nice shape except it has a long thin diagonal scratch going through it, obviously an original ..
  thanks for the comparison pics , there always interesting........

What info do they need to recreate the sticker?

I have a Fender tag and Broadcast sheet too.

Hey Barry, the one on my car has had the top layer peeled off at one time exposing the INVALID letters. You can still see where it says 3-71 on the decal. Would a pic of that along with a pic of the data tag, title and my license do it for getting another one stamped? The previous owners cleaned it out for build sheets.

Again, you would have to ask Dave what he needs to get-er-done. Mine is still in good shape, so I have not used his service.

I had Dave at ECS make one for my 70 Cuda and it turned out great. I don't think I had to give him much more than the VIN and month built to have him make mine up.
