wiper blades going off screen...................
« on: December 06, 2008 - 01:44:15 PM »
     HI GUYS,   Cudaneil here.

I have noticed that my windshield wipers go off screen on the passenger side when they sweep.

And when they stop, they lay at the bottom of the screen,so its not just a case of repositioning the arms.

Is there a sweep adjustment or is it likely to be wear in something ?        :1zhelp:    :clueless:

What do you mean off the screen?  Maybe you have too long of a blade?

Hi Tom,  no what i mean is when the sweep is supposed to stop at the edge of the screen, it actually goes off the edge about 2 inches, and then goes back the other way !

And the strange thing is,when i get hold of the wiper arm there does not seem to be any excess play in it.

                                                                                                   cheers, Neil.

I'm not really sure what you are referring to when you say "screen".   :clueless:

I think he's referring to the windshield.  :grinyes:

:roflsmiley: Sorry im English  :england: And we call it a windscreen not windshield.

Anyhow, the wiper blades are going off the side of the windshield, must be due to adjustment or wear ?   :clueless:

Thinking about it you guys probably dont need to use wipers much..............but in england we get this thing called rain!   :droolingbounce: (rhymes with PAIN !!!)

from what I have figured out the top cover on the 3 speed wipers can be installed  in approx 6 different positions , not sure if this affects the total travel or just the position it parks in , you need to remove the 5 screws around the edge & you will see a pointer tab on the cover , make note of where it is now & try repositioning it

It's in the shop manual, you line up a notch to a groove for A, B, C, E, F etc bodies.

Hi guys, I just got a pm off jules. He says that the motor camdrive just turns round on the 3 speed motor,so its not responsible for the amount of sweep.

The extra movement is down to play somewhere in the links or a loose arm on the motor camdrive.

I think what you guys are talking about with the different cover locations,is just for the "park" positions.   :clueless:
