Daddy got a new pair of shoes.   I picked these up off craigslist cheap, so I'm trying them on.   The tires are too lo-pro for me, so I'll definately replace the rears, I'd rather have 45's on the front, but the 40's aren't horrible, I'll have to see when the motor is in and the ride height is adjusted.

They are 255/40/17 and 275/35/18 with 4.5" and 6" BS respectively.  The rears are actually only .4" taller then the fronts.  The 6" BS isn't quite right either, a little too much, It did come with some very nice 2" billet spacers and all the locking lug nuts too.  but those are likely to be too thick with the bigger tires.

The rims are KMC "Hot Wheels" style and they tires are BFG KDW2's which look pretty nice and are supposed to be really good.

Late entry - the wheels are shown in previous posts now.

Yeah, the tires would be too Lo-Pro for me too. I like to see a tire fill up those big wheel wells.   Even if you lowered the car it would look like the tires are too small.

The car looks good though. It's all the liitle parts now that take time refinishing.

Actually, the fronts are not bad at all.  Its the rears that are a little low.   Remember there isn't a motor and its sitting about 4" higher then normal.

But I do plan on replacing the rear tires with some 285/40/18's.  That will give the rears another 1.5" of sidewall and more patch too.  Thats about as tall of a tire as I can get on an 18" rim.  It should look good too.

She's looking good!

Sorry to hear more body shop "issue" stories, but you got your car done in pretty good time and you tell us it was at a fair price. Sounds like more good than bad.

I like these stories much better than the typical "Body guy says it'll be done next week" for seventeen weeks stories.

Until you said it was green, I'd swear it was a very dark gunmetal. Any stripes planned?

I was thinking about a black RT stripe down the side like the white one on your PlumCrazy car.  I had a white one on my vert too and liked it.  I think black would look actually pretty subtle on this paint color, but I'd like to see a rendering of it before I do anything like that.  I thought about a goldish bumblebee stripe too, but nothing definate yet.

Chris - post a full side shot of your car and I can mock up a black stripe for you.

BTW - I like the wheels.  How much did you pick them up for?  I am starting to scour craigslist for some wheels too...

Hi Gary,

I picked the rims and tires up locally for less then a grand.  They are alright, they also come with a blacked out area on either side of the raised chrome spoke, instead of the completely chromed version I have.  The blacked out ones are much better I think, I may try to get them powder coated.  I like the satin look better too.

Thanks Gary, I'll try to get a shot this week.

Gary,  it looks like the side shot on the top of page 4 of my thread, is the only one I'll be getting until its running.   There's not much of chance to push it out of my garage and up the driveway enough to get a good side shot, so thats the best I can do for some time.

Thanks for your help,
Chris

I did a little work a couple of weeks ago, getting the pilot bushing out of the crank and the flexplate trimmed up for the A500 trans.  Its taken me some time to get the photos uploaded to a webshots so I can get them in the forum.

I also got my AC/heater box detailed and installed.   I had to replace the heater core as well.

Unfortunately, I found out that this flexplate needs to be put on a lathe and cut down another 1/2" to work.  It sure would have saved me $ to do that then get the flexplate kit I got from street and performance.  But its done now and trans is installed.  (11-5-12)

Here are some pics of my heater box and my seats.

I trimmed the seat tracks down to flat plates and set them in the car.  Now I need to make the spacers to bolt it in place.  I have some 1/8" plate to fab those up.

I went through 4 drill bits drilling out the spot welds and HD rivots holding the brackets on the tracks.   I need to go get more at Harbor Freight before I can start the passenger seat!

I love these seats, I think they are really going to work out nice.

This is the only one I'll have of the whole car for a while.   I don't plan on pushing it out of the garage and up the driveway, to get some broadside pics.   I'm afraid the next time its out of the garage will be under its own power.
