Yep, that honda is going strong.  I've heard they have tranny issues at ~ 140k Miles.  Any experience with that?

Got most of my wiring done, and my factory looking cold air intake done, its looking pretty good.  I've got to put my dash back together now and see if my lights and accessories work.

I accidently jumped my starter and was glad to see that it turns over...

I'd like to replace  the photos on this thread so they won't get deleted again, but wonder if I post them on the web, can I just reference them in the thread instead of attaching them?  Anyone know how long they will remain until they get deleted?

You'll have to edit each post to add the links to the pics on the web, then uncheck the pics already attached.

Well, its been quite a while since my last post on this project, but I've gotten a lot accomplished recently.  The biggest and most important thing, is I got it RUNNING!!  :bananasmi I need to get the exhaust put on it now, but it runs and the transmission shifts into drive, neutral, reverse and park.   :burnout:

I bought an InTune tuner from Diablo and downloaded the factory tune put on the computer from Hotwire and uploaded a 87 octane performance tune to the car and it runs better than with the factory tune, but still needs work.  So I emailed the stock tune to my friend Stu at Inertia Motorsports and he is going to burn a custom tune for the Spartan Cam that he sold me for the motor....5 years ago.

Its really been quite a while since I started this project, but I can see daylight in sight.   Since my last post, I've picked up again and moved back to Texas, in the Houston area.  I've met some really great mopar guys out here and am really enjoying it, but really need to upgrade to a bigger garage, because I'm looking for my next project.  Man, prices have really gone up since I bought my last project car.  :faint:

I've got a bunch of other pics, but need to get them reduced in size to post on here.   :violin:

I guess it does, very cool.

Well I drove my Challenger out of the garage under its own power for the first time in 5 years!  It is still idling poorly, though.  Before I drove it out, I put it in drive, held the brake to see if the trans shifted alright, it did, but the motor started to die, so I feathered it slightly and the car started moving.... sideways!  I left a huge black mark on my garage floor.

This things got a lot more ass then I thought!  I couldn't believe it would break the tires loose that easy and its got gummy 285's on the back.   I'm going to have to watch it.

Man this thing is loud!  In need to get some exhaust pipes bolted  to the headers.

Glad this photo bucket works.

Man you should've posted a pic of the "accidental" burnout  :burnout:
I just got mine started using a hotwire kit, pretty easy really.  They seem like good guys too.

I didn't know there was such a section....  I gotta get out more.

So I've messed with the car quite a bit, built a smoke machine with a Air compressor, coffee can and cigar, and could not find a vacuum leak.  Called Chris Squier @ Hotwire and he suggested the throttle body was not plugged in correctly.  It seems to be.  I don't really know what to do at this point.   All the codes its throwing are normal according to Hotwire.  It just keeps revving up and down.

I did have to swap plugs on the throttle body (different styles between years), which was pretty straight forward, but I will check the wiring on that anyway to make sure I didn't get anything crossed.  Glad I saved the old plug.

I've had it on the road and drove it around the block a few times, but it really only idles.  I give it gas and it doesn't really do anything in drive.  It does rev up some in park or neutral, but not much at all when in drive.

If anyone has some Ideas, I'd sure listen to them...

I need to get my exhaust installed so I can at least run it some to work on it.  The whole neighborhood says " what the hell?" every time I start it up and its too loud to think straight.

I hate the idea of having to trailer it to a muffler shop, instead of driving it.  It just doesn't seem right.

I was having odd idle problem (surging). Added ground straps to the valve cover bolts, one between the heads to ground, and even an exhaust ground strap all like the factory 6.1 in gcsrt's. that and if you have just open headers near the O2's you may have issues there as well.

So Grimmmey,  did just the ground straps fix the problem?

I found I had 2 wires crossed when i swapped the throttle body plug.  fixed that and it idled much smoother, but now it dies as soon as I put it gear.

so the engine no longer just revs up and down.    But the throttle body still doesn’t respond and rev when I pushed the pedal….  Only really idled.    I pulled out and started driving it around the block, and before I got it back home, it stalled on me.  And wouldn’t restart.  I thought I ran out of gas, so put more in it.   I ended up pushing it back home, but of course I can’t get it back into the driveway or the garage because of the slope.  So its sitting along the curb.  I’ve been able to get it started after scores of attempts, and it will idle, but as soon as I put it in gear, it dies.

I had noticed the trans was slipping and checked the fluid and it was a quart low.  Then I got it running and put it in gear and it really slammed into gear and stalled.  So I can't push it in my garage and  I'm stuck on the curb.

I’m done.  I think I’m gonna haul it over to a shop tomorrow and at least get the exhaust put on then see if they can figure out why it won’t run.  I don’t know if they have the experience or equipment to figure this out, but I got to do something, because I’m just spinning my wheels.

If you guys have any suggestions I’m all ears….

Its been a long time since I posted on this.  I did fix my engine problem, It wasn't electrical, it was actually a push rod that fell out of place when I built the engine!  I had a dead cylinder with no valves opening!!  These hemis have semi horizontal push rods, not vertical like stock engine.  I'm not sure how one of them wasn't in place, it was just laying in the head.  But I installed it in place and it fired right up and ran great.  Its been some time now that I've had it up and running, and I'm still working out some electrical gremlins, and brake and suspension issues, but I think I'm on the right track now.

The engine runs great and is so smooth.  Check out this video of a walk around I made

https://www.facebook.com/chris.ryon/videos/10210202723254619/

The 518 OD transmission is seamless.  Shifts great, smooth, goes in and out of OD nicely and cruise at 70 at about 2100 RPMs with 3.73 gears.     The interior is the best, I really love my seats, full power and so comfortable.  I can't wait to get the A/C assembled and charged so I can drive it all the time.
