I just stopped by a dealer a couple weeks ago to take a look at what they had.  I was looking at a new 09 1500, the only one they had on the lot.  After talking with a salesman and then walking back to my truck, he came back with one last offer - Full trade in value for my truck (about $8K), then half of what the remaining price was on the truck.  It was a $40K truck that I could have driven off that day for around $16K.  I also just heard a news story the other day that a dealer was doing Buy One Get One Free on Rams (not sure if they were 08 or 09).  They said after taxes, etc, the 2nd truck would cost around $3K.  Unbelievable!

Dealers here are offering $10k back on '08 Rams. No published offers on '09s yet, but I'm sure they are dealing in person, and I would expect many offers to change in Q1 of '09

I don't know if it is still going on, but for a while here in the Bay Area Dodge dealerships were giving 40% off vehicles. I can't remeber which vehicles were included, but I know the trucks were and Challengers and SRT8s weren't.

I'm with ya brother, but for a family vehicle tis not very practicle+++ i could get 3 Laredos for the price of 1-Chally...at least the one I'd want.

:iagree: Yep, not quite the family vehicle but I have the   :22yikes: Honda Odyssey for that.

The new Challenger is the only car in it's segment so far that can seat 5, so that means I don't have to leave one of the kids/the wife at home!  :roflsmiley:

I wouldn't need a car any time soon, but I just received a new Challenger brochure inthe mail today and it's really giving me a bad itch!!!!

throttle response is terrible because of the drive by wire which delays the throttle for about a half second.

I am in these vehicles all the time and would defintely disagree. All the Hemis are electronic throttle as well and I've never heard a complaint.

We have a 2002 Jeep Liberty, mine, and a 2006 Mini, my wife's.  There's no room for a third car, and we really can't afford it anyway, but I'd love to have a new Challenger.  I would if I could.

In a happier place with more driveway and garage I'd have the Challenger and a pickup (Dakota or Ram, depending on fit; the older Dakotas did not have enough head room)

I would have a new Challenger stting in my driveway right now if I could afford it,and I only want a base v6 model for daily commuting instead of driving my truck.Hopefully in another year or two I`ll have one.

The Hemi Charger I test drove a while back had a little lag when I hit the gas.

The 3.7 Grand Cherokee that my mom drives definitely has the lag. I could push the gas in neutral and it will rev for a half second after I let go of the gas.

Is everybody talking about jumping in and putting it to to the wood? or just driving like a normal person.

I know I am talking about jumping on the throttle, whether it be from a dead stop or passing gear, more so with passing gear than from a dead stop, but can still feel it.

There will be a delay under those conditions, the throttle need to be opened and the trans shifted into the right gear so when it happens everything is pulling at once. You want to talk about a delay when mashing the throttle, the new aspen hybrid I brought home tonite feels like you could probably count 2 before it moves quickly. But thats electric motors, then gas engine.

My new 08 Aspen with the 5.7 gets with it pretty good. It'll go when you punch it. I am very satisfied with the vehicle. It gets 22-23 on the highway and when I get the tow hitch I will be able to pull the 'cuda. It's not going to be a trailer queen but if I take it to the road corse 70 miles away I'm not driving it there with the wife and kid. The cooler, chairs, car seat, and stuff will easily go in the Aspen, especially with the mid and third raw seats that fold and flip. They're awesome.
This thing is like Chryslers version of the Escalade. Much nicer and more powerful than any import SUV by a good stretch. I wish I would've waited till now to buy it though. I got it when the '08's just hit the dealers in 07.
We also had a rear end situation where the wife hit a car at about 20 mph and we got bumper/grille damage and a cracked headlight. Not bad!
