71 valance
« on: December 10, 2008 - 10:02:41 AM »
I'm in need of a 71 cuda front valance.  I'd like one without and light openings (i think there is such a thing?)  Id prefer one that's not a re-pop and in good shape yet.  Thanks much!

Good luck my friend. All 71's have the parking light holes in the valance. 1970 and 72-74 use the same valance. The 71 valance is 1 year only and there are no repops. I searched for 1 for several months. I saw them going for $800 to $1500 and $150 for a very smashed one. I got one at Chrysler Carlisle for $250 and it was in good condition. I made my friends laugh because I was so happy to get it that I hugged it. Keep looking constantly and good luck.

The signals are located in the front valance(like a Challenger)

Thanks!  I must going senile at age 52, because I have a 71 and don't recall noticing anything different on 70 and 72-74. :dupe:

Actually now I am confused, I have 2 valences that I got when I bought the car... one looks like all the other ones I have seen that has a flat spot in the circle opening for the blinker and the other one is more oval shaped... now I am wondering if there were 2 different types for the 71 or do I have a valence for another year, or model?

The 71 Cuda valances also have a different shaped center cutout. (The area that lets air into the rad area). The plastic insert is quite different as well.

It sounds like you may have a Challenger valance if it has oval park light holes.

The white one is the correct one and the grey one is for a Challenger buddy. :2thumbs:

If you want clean and smooth, i suggest using a 70 style valance as it does not have the indicator holes and is smooth.  It has a bigger opening but you are doing a custom lower grille anyway :2thumbs:

the 70 Valance is the same as a 72-74 Valance aswell, so they will be easy to get and you could even buy one new if you wanted. :2thumbs:

im relieved!  actually, you may have already told me that   haha   i've had a lot of stuff going on, so i apologize if you did.  i really appreciate the help!  Is goodmark one of the better sources for sheet metal stuff for these cudas?  I'm not too familiar with suppliers for these cars.

Yes i have told you this before............... :smilielol: but it is cool :2thumbs:

Try Goodmark or AMD for the panel, you could also give Dave at Roseville Moparts a ring as he gives discount to C-C members on such items.
