'72-'74 Challenger
« on: December 10, 2008 - 11:56:34 AM »
Found this a few weeks ago. It's a '72-'74 (could never tell which year was which), red w/white interior. It's an automatic w/ a console. Not sure about the engine or exact year, the vin tag was covered.

I asked at the house but they said it's not for sale. To me, it looks like the guy drives it in the summer to shows and then leaves it there for the rest of the year.

That's a nice looking Rally Challenger. It's either a 73, or 74. That body side molding is rare.

I used to have that moulding on my car, along with 2 NOS pieces I got from the previous owner. Sold it all on ebay 10 or so years ago.

It looks like the guy drives the car to shows and then parks it there for winter BUT I checked through 2 years worth of car show pictures (including the biggest Mopar show in BC) I have and I couldn't see the car in any of them. :dunno:

:iagree:  '73-'74 due to the bumperettes.

Nice car, don't see the white roof/interior as much now a days.  :grinyes:

I guess because not a lot of cars had them from the factory and the ones that did had them removed when bodywork was done and it never made it back on to the car for different reasons.

I have them on my car and it sort of gets in the way of stripe options.  I believe since they were put on by the factory, the scoops/stripes for the Rallye package got deleted.  I like the '71 Style R/T stripe but it doesn't look right with this moulding.  The moulding gets in the way of the '70 style stripe.  :dunno:

Bingo Phil.   :grinyes:

I can see evidence that my car originally had those body side moldings if I look real hard. It only took about 5 years for me to notice.   :bricks1:  Yes, having those moldings messes up any kind of stripes that you might want to go with. Also, it is incredibly rare to see anyone selling that molding if you are looking for replacements. They aren't re-popped.
