Barry has listed that there is a Gator Grain top M46, just wondering if anyone has ever heard of or seen a Mod Top M46 by any chance ? :o :)

I would also like to see a tortoise grain top also.
Anyway, the grill on my M46 is also grey plastic.  Looks to be original as it seems to have been there and never removed.

Is there a known date for when the M46 was last produced.  If the Black grill came out in March, 70, then maybe there are some M46's that were ordered with the black plastic grill.  Seems that the only M46's known are all from 1969.
Anyone know of a later model?  Not a 71 just a later production 70?

Isn't there a black argent paint that was used on some of the grey plastic grills.
That could constitute a blacked out grill if the paint was available.

I thought i would share two Photo Chopped versions of an M46 Barracuda.

My car is the Tan car and is changed up a little with things that i want to do.
Alans car is close to being as factory, with the exception of the AAR hood.

Those color matched rims are really growing on me.  That looks really pretty slick on your car with that color.
Thanks for sharing those pics Ken!!

So, noone knows if there is a black argent paint that was used on grills?

The Black textured paint would be the same as what is used on the body and hood of an AAR, Organisol Black. it is textured and argent. :2thumbs:

Hmm,  so is there any possibility that some of the grills were painted with this but the paint came off?  Chipped off or wore off?  I wonder if any had this.  Seems likely to me since the entire bottom surface is blacked out and the tail panel, I think, would have been blacked out.

I know what your saying, i think it may of even been depending on what plant each M46 was built at to what color the grille may have been ? perhaps ?

LA did not produce AARs, so they would have had no need for black grilles at all.  ;)

I posted the documents I know of on the subject.

If anyone has another document or documents that agree or disagree, I would love to see them.

I am not going to guess at what "might" have been done. I enjoy researching facts, but researching "might haves" is pretty difficult.  ;)

To me, a black grille would look great on a M46 car with all the lower blackout paint. I just cannot find anything anywhere saying any came that way.

Barry
