The M46 Barracuda - What were the differences and how

I would check your registry also and contact the owners of the m46 383-4 barrels cars.
Because the biggest engine the m46 cars came with was the 383-2 barrels.

I think you should share what you do know and try explain this tag to me......... We are all here to help and learn along the way. 
This Tag belongs to a car that was on e-bay a little while ago for sale and i do not know who bought it.  But it clearly shows that there is an N code M46 car.  The M46 although unique, is still just another optioned up Barracuda and shares all of its engines availablity for that run of production cars.  No larger engines than 383-4 Barrels were available for them.

In fact this is the very car that it belongs to as i saved the pictures from the e-bay posting when it was on for sale.

I would not bet any money on how any car was built in the early 70's I would not even trust the build sheet totally.  I was at dealerships during that time.  I know what happened.  I just do not think that Chrysler keep any information on all of the cars they built.  They may have stated they were going to build them but it often changed as it went down the line.  Gordon

Can you explain where you got your info that there is no such thing as a 383-4 Barrel M46 Please. . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

If you go to different search engines on the web and search Key words
"1970 M46 barracuda" you will find the info..The info I have collected on these car is
buried due to a remodel on my house.

I have done different searches and as you know info is hard to find anything M46 related.  I would be interested in seeing what you can find if you get a chance to dig it out, when you have the time of course, with your house reno's happening.  Keep in touch, thanks.

Hey Barry, any chance you could contact the owners of the 383-4 Barrel M46 cars to get some sort of confirmation and a copy of there fender tags please.  With there permision of course.  Blank out the Von and Vin numbers when and if you can post please buddy

Theres ways to spot both fake vin and cowl tags.
But I would ask to see the cowl tag on the fender rail for starters.

Yor M46 is a 383-2 Barrel and is FY1 yellow right, what was your trim bucket or bench in Black ? and do you know what the answer is to the color of the grille from factory please ?

I want some real proof on the grille question for sure.  I took the grille out of my car and it was argent for sure.  Gordon

This page shows that the 383 4-barrel was optional in the 1970 Barracuda;

The next page says the "Simulated air scoops on rear quarter - Barracuda only. There is no mention of it limited to engine size;

If any one has PROOF otherwise, I am sure we would all be quite happy to see it.

As far as posting photos of other people fender tags, I will not do that. If an M46 owner wants to post their tag here, fine, but it is not my place to do that for them.

Of all the M46 tags I have seen, I have not spotted a fake one yet & most of you know I can spot fake 1970 tags quite well. 

Tom sent the codes to me for the M46 'vert that he is trying to buy, it is a new one to me. I will have to update the list now, I will edit the list I posted yesterday.

Of all the M46 cars I know of, only two are "done". The red original paint car of Dwights & Alan's purple one. I would love to see photos of all the rest of them myself.

I pulled my car out of a crane operators garage. It was taken off the road in 1973. The car sat in the desert for many many years stripped down to nothing and all the parts were stacked all over the garage on shelfs and nuts/bolts in coffee cans.  My grill was argent silver with no signs of black on it.  I have always assumed it was the original since it came with the car in 1973, but I can not say for sure that it did. The car was built in La, then stayed 125 miles from there in the desert. But anything could of been changed for one reason or another. I was depressed that it didn't have a build sheet up in the seats, behind the dash, or any where else.

so I can not lay claim to my car coming with an argent gray grill. But I left it argent since it was with the car. I also added the red bars myself since I like the look.  Sorry I can not add a yes or no to the grill question.  I'm quite sure my I'd numbers are original in all locations.  I can post the fender tag if someone wants to see it. Nice options to me. But it's a 318/4 spd , 323, 8 3/4.  Has a couple of other nice options for being a 318 car.

I know the M46 cars are collectable, but I hold no special value for them for a bolt on option car.  I just enjoy the car for what it is. A solid 70 barracuda 4 spd. The fun is endles
