Hey guys!

It actually went pretty good, and I kinda think I'll get an offer, but I don't know if it'll be a good fit for me.

This is basically a corporate desk job.  I take a little bit of information from some other desk jobby type folk, and then report to my bosses who will basically holler at me if something isn't right, even though it's not my fault.

Now, we basically get the information directly from the construction people, and holler at THEM if something isn't right, get them to fix, and THEN publish to the bosses.  We're much more in control of the schedule, and the project in general.  So I dunno if I like just kinda being the middle man.

But for now I'm worn out - driving through Pittsburgh in bad weather definitely sucks.  :)

I'll be back on tomorrow.  Thanks for the support, folks.

Lol - I had absolutely no interest in taking my Viper through the hectic streets of Pittsburgh.  I also didn't want to leave it in the hands of a Valet driver, either.  For one - you're obviously asking for liability issues, for two - you pull up to a Valet station in a Viper and they're going to expect a hefty tip!!

I decided early on that it wouldn't be very impressionable to start talking about "all my nice cars" during a job interview.  I thought it better to go in modestly - let them think I need money, not that I have more that I know what to do with.  Unfortunately the HR guy I met with first made a strong effort to demonstrate that I'd take a pay cut - possibly a hefty one - if I went to work with Siemens.  He kept commenting on my lack of experience and formal education (in project controls,) and also how much of someone's income benefits actually amounts to.

All in all, it doesn't seem like a very fun job.  Not that my job here is that much fun, but AEP has discussed possibly making me a startup scheduler - a position the company has never had before.  It'd basically give me an opportunity to create my own job - my own responbilities, and create my own program for combining the efforts of the startup and scheduling teams.  It'd be a challenge, and I think it'd be a lot of fun, even if I had to relocate to Columbus, OH.

So I think I'm going to let Siemens pass and keep looking.  I still have plenty of time, so no rush.  It's weird to actually be able to turn down jobs!

Good luck on your search.  I know how it is for sure.  Just think I will stay where I am for another year anyways because I can get things done that I want.  Hope you have a merry christmas and a very good new year.  Gordon
