People…….I HATE SNOW!
« on: December 17, 2008 - 11:17:57 PM »
Yes that fluffy white stuff that falls from the sky and makes your life a living hel!.  :hyper:  :stomp:

All arteries from the northern deserts of southern CA, to the valleys are closed.  I have been driving in it for the last ten hours, and I am stranded in Victorville, thirty miles from my home.    :banghead:  :banghead: All the hotels are full and only by luck, and a good friends help, I have a room in a flea bag motel, where I have to put a chair against the door to make sure I don’t get robbed.   :scared:

The People of California do not know how to drive in snow.  I helped five people get un-stranded because they spun out and got stuck.  I also drove by many more who were too stuck and or to stupid to help.  I witnessed many a spin outs from people who drive to fast for the conditions.

I got as close as three miles to escaping this hell, on a 158 mile detour, only to be turned around because of accidents and having to drive all the way back.    :banghead: :banghead:  :banghead:

Oh well at least I am safe and warm and don’t have to sleep in my car, so thing could be worse.  No all I have to do is get home tomorrow, if they decide to open the roads.  :2thumbs:

I love the snow! :woohoo:

I had to walk home though today, I went through the parking lot of our local hospital. There was two choices people could of taken...going down a steep hill to the road, or go through the parking lot and going down a wayyy less steeper hill. I saw two people attempt to go down the steep hill and went off the road. I stood there for about 5 minutes..signaling people to go through the parking lot instead of going down the hill. Nobody listened and ended up sliding down the hill into the snow banks (and ended up stuck). Two people even crunched into each other.

Yep, people think "I can make it" and then they can't.  Near white out conditions and people were still passing me.  Only to hit a snow drift and spin out of control and off the road.  Those people I lift stranded.  :smilielol:

I dont like snow either.  Had enough in my youth to satisfy me for sure.  That is why I moved south.  Take care and wish you the best and try to stay warm and safe.
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

I'm pretty sure it is against the law in most states to leave a person stranded in harsh conditions. even if you feel they are dummies.

I watched a dummy pass me in wyoming in the winter. It was at dark. about 20 minutes later he was spun out in the median. We were in the desert and it was 20 below.  Everyone was passing him up till me. The interstate 80 was being closed. I did stop and pick him up and asked why he was driving like an a hole. He said death in the family and was trying to get there. Family member.

He was bout froze to death. He and under 20 bucks on him.  I rented him a motel room at a motel and let him call his parents useing my cell phone. They came and got him when the interstate opened up. I was stuck there to.  His parents paid me back for his room, paid me back for the food I gave him. Then tried to give me 500 bucks as I recall.  I refused the money of course, but he would have been dead if I'd of left him there.

I was later told by a trooper that it was a law to assist a motorist when disabled in a blizzard.  I just knew not to leave someone in the cold and dark knowing they could die.

Glad yer ok :2thumbs:

It rained and snowed on me for 2 days now . I work outside. It hasnt been fun

I'm feelin' for ya, 67.  We have a busload of people who were coming home from Vegas today get stuck in Primm, Nv (Stateline).  CalTrans had closed I-15 S/B coming into the state and then Nevada closed the road going north into Vegas.  They were fortunate to get rooms.  We're still not sure when or if they'll get home tomorrow, since even Railroad Pass on US-95 was closed between Henderson and Boulder City.  :faint:

That is a great example of how we would need fewer laws if we had more decency and common sense. :2thumbs:

I don't understand why people in SUV's think that their cars are impervious to bad weather...  Rubber truck tires slide on ice just the same as rubber car tires.

4 wheel drive does not mean 4 wheel stop. I lived in Colorado for 8 years and drove my hot rod Comet and the Challenger in the snow, never spun, never hit anyone. Just gotta know when to go slow and where the big hills are to avoid.

Alan,

are you god in costume. some of the things that you do. wow  :clapping:

 to everyone! I'm going to climb the "I hate Snow" soap box as well. Here in Wyoming where people should know how to drive in the white stuff, the entire spectrum is present from speeding up to driving 5 mph at the first flurry. :pullinghair:   Not to mention the crap that gets all over your car. :swear:  Not the Chally of course, but I don't even want that crap on my truck. :stomp:  The icing on the cake, I work outside and I am growing less tolerant of cold weather and WIIINNNDDD!! After the first of the year I will be moving to Utah.  :faint:  I think I need to get my compass looked at. :grinyes:

Anyway, be safe be warm have a great Holiday season. Soon we will be  :burnout: again and not with the Hondog in the snow. :icon16: :icon16:
