Any one like snakes?
« on: December 18, 2008 - 05:42:27 PM »
Just wanted to see if anyone on the board has or likes snakes, like my self. I had loved and owned snakes sence I was a kid. Right now I have a year and a half old Red tail Boa. She's a little over 3' feet, and her name is Wednesday.

Snakes are great! I also have loved them from a young age, but do not currently own any. "Unusual" pets have always interested me, and reptiles have often been the alternative pet of choice for me. Perhaps I will be able to acquire another snake soon, but I do not have a lot of hope for that right now. Mine were always domestically produced- garter snakes, grass snakes, and once, a bull snake. I have also had a couple of turtles, the most recent some years ago; she was a Western painted turtle. I have also had some spiders; one was a captured tarantula from Phoenix, AZ (he was the type used in "Arachnophobia" for the hybrids- they really are that fast!), and I have also had some Black Widows. All have made fascinating pets. Your boa looks like quite the beautiful snake. Keep it well.

I caught a Garter Snake when I was 10 and tried to keep it, but the moment my mom found out, it went back outside.

I love snakes.

I used to have 3 of them. A 4 foot Ball Python, a 6 foot Red Tailed Boa, and a 12 foot albino Burmese Python. Sold them all several years ago when I decided I'd much rather have women around than the snakes. :naughty:

I've always wanted a snake, several friends of mine own and/or breed them as a hobby.  I've never been able to get one between my parents or girlfriends who said absolutely not.  I do have a 5.5ft long green iguana though, for some reason they think he's okay.  Apparently 4 legs with razor sharp claws makes him more appealing to women.  :screwy:

all my snakes either die of head on collisions with lawn mowers or lead poisoning.

I had an amilianistic corn snake for years before I went to Iraq. His name was Taco and I raised him from a pencil. I gave him and my Tarantulas to a local pet store owner before I was deployed so my wife wouldn't have to take care of them. I miss him.
My wife used to have several boas and pythons before we ever met. She said that one of them named Apache would lay across the dashboard of her and her boyfriend's truck when they would drive around Hollywood and it would bob its head up and down out the window.

Snakes are neat. I to like the high impact colored snakes. They have great color to them. We used to have a little ball python, named Hector. He got out one day, and we couldnt find him. Around hunting season my buddy was getting ready to go out, he found Hector in his boot. Curled up dead, cause of death was ruled smell of my buddies feet :22yikes:

Might be fun as a pet, but I worked in the swamps for 12 yrs.  I had to be transported out 1 time by helicopter because of a cotton mouth biting me on the right ankle.   I have hours of stories on venumous snakes.  Or if you wanna talk aligators for pets.  But as far as snakes....keep them.

We used to catch gardner snakes and bull snakes when I was a kid growing up in Iowa. Also craw-dads, bull frogs, tadpoles, and snappin' turtles. Snakes were easy to find, especially when you were mowing the lawn. We live in Arizona now, different kind of snakes out here. :22yikes:
