XV Motors - 5.7 Hemi carb Kit
« on: December 20, 2008 - 11:14:03 AM »
So these have been out for a while now and a few on here were talking about purchasing this:

http://www.xvmotorsports.com/products/detail/index.cfm?nPID=165&cid=120&cdesc=5%2E7%20HEMI%20Carb%20Kits

I've read about it in the magazines.  I can't seem to find anyone who has bought this entire kit.  I'm looking for feedback from anyone who has bought and installed it on a 5.7 Hemi.  Any issues?  Easy of installation?  Did you get 420HP or more?

Anything new on the market with similar solution?

Looking to buy this kit (or similar) in the early new year but need feedback first.

Thanks.

Check to make sure it is in Stock before you order.  I believe that a member here has or had waited for 6 months for the intake?

:iagree: Looks good but I wouldn't put that cheap Holley on my car. Looks like a 1850. Get a Thunder AVS and you'll have another 30hp @ 6,000rpm.

Thanks.  Yes.  I've had this discussion with a number of people.  Same feedback on from everyone on XV - Great people, great products, high price....and no stock.

They seem to collect orders then build after the fact.  I wish they would put their money in product supply instead of building new cars all the time.

I have a stock 2005 5.7 Hemi with less than 100 miles that I would like to build up to 450HP Max at a reasonable cost.

This looks like the only advertised solution I have found.

450hp is a POC with a 5.7 motor  :grinyes:  That's always easy with 270cfm heads stock. You can always get the MP Intake and buy the same controller from Jegs. You'll have to program it yourself, which shouldn't be a major problem. Just don't choke out the great flowing heads with a little carb. Comp makes some good cams for them, but I'd go for the biggest one. Not a radical grind, but like a stock LS-2. Have you seen this article?

I was the one who had one on order for 6 months. That's the same song & dance I got from them, but the date got set back every time I called about it. I wouldn't order anything from them unless they said they had it on the shelf and would ship it out the same day! Even then I would be leery of them. If they are now saying the end of January then that is going to put it at 8 months + after I ordered one. They even had them up for auction on Ebay when they had none in stock. Another person bought one from them and when he found that they weren't in stock he got a refund and reported them to Ebay, and Ebay made them remove their auctions.

For those looking for an intake for the 5.7 or 6.1 hemi check with Indy Cylinder Heads. They have just come out with a new intake with an interchangeable top. You can get tops for a single four, a dual four, six pack or blower, and it looks like it's about the same height as the MP intake. When I talked to them back in November they said they would have them in stock in a week or so. Here's a link to their site with some pics;

Yep, it's running. It is a sweet running motor with that 6.1 SRT cam! It idles great at 800 RPM and pulls plenty of vacuum for the brakes. It's nice having power steering back in the car too. The 5.7 has at least as much power as the 392 had, and it's a good 200 lbs. lighter so the car handles MUCH better! Here's a couple of pics;

I used the MSD Hemi-6 controller and harness. If you look in the 2nd pic just above the fan shroud you can just see the end of the controller (it's red) and the harness coming out of it. It's pretty much a plug and play deal.

You can get them from Summit for about $700 total. The wiring harness is specific to the type of coils you have, early style (like mine) or late style, which is what you have on the engine in the pic you posted.

BTW, the Hemi-6 controller is what XV is using in their 'kits'.

That motor looks really nice in there.  For some reason, it almost looks like it came from the factory that way.  It's a  very clean looking install!
