    Building a 8 3/4 from scratch ???

    If you have a housing can you build a posi out of it?

    Thing is, I bought a Strange S60 and was caught up in the Dana is best attitude. I think for my application I would be better suited with a lighter 8 3/4. I am building the cuda more for auto cross and cruiser than street strip. The 8 3/4 is lighter and the S60 uses the green bearings which aren't necessarily good for cornering. The ball bearings just aren't as durable, I hear, as the roller type. I also got the S60 in E-body width and not the B-body width.

    The one bad thing is I couldn't find a Wilwood disc package for the 8 3/4 and my S60's Wilwood kit isn't compatible with the 8 3/4.

    I am thinking about building, or just buying, a complete 8 3/4 and selling the S60.

    Anyone have suggestions and advice in brakes?

    Moser makes a brandy new 8 3/4 housing, I saw it in one of the magazines lately.

    I just looked at thier website and didn't see it. I was looking at Randy's and it is looking like I could build my housing I have and my Dad has a case that I can buy some 3.73's and put in. All I would be out would be the money for the 3.73's, axles and posi. Alot cheaper and I would probably give my S60 to my Dad for his 69 Roadrunner.

    I am actually thinking about getting that one when I upgrade to Reilly Motorsports rear coil-over setup.
     I was thinking of having ford ends installed also so I can have better disk brake options and not worry about that green bearing stuff.

    Pretty trick looking setup.

    Looks sweet to me and you can get it in b body width for more room.

    Hey bro you and I were deployed at the time, the thing is he couldnt give it away bro...  it was sad, he had so much money in that rear too, it most likley is what your looking for.  Cant you just sell your S60 and build you a 8 3/4 to the detail of your needs or are you looking to hold on to it and build one on the cheap?

    John, drive up to my place and pick up an ebody 8 3/4 rear off me. I have the axles and good bearings too. You can just get the center section

    I talked to Dr. Diff and found out the 60 and the 8.75 don't weigh that much different. Also the green bearings I have aren't the old fragile ones so I can corner with them and don't have to worry. I know you have to stay away from the Mopar ones though. I have a housing and a center so I might look into it later.

    If the bearings ever fail due to side loads I will more than likely fix it and start building the replacement 8.75 and sell the S60 to a racer on Moparts or somewhere.
