    I have a 61" Samsung DLP and love it.  It uses LED lights instead of a bulb.  The bulbs for regular DLP's are pricey ($200 to $400).  The price of my LED over the same model using a standard DLP bulb was only a couple hundred dollars different about a year ago.  If you are putting a DLP in a room that has some light sources that are bright, like a single lamp in the back of the room, it will reflect out of the back of the screen.  Usually, you can solve this by moving the lamp, or turning it off. :)
    I also have a Samsung 46" LCD that is really nice.  Two years ago, and maybe even a year ago, if you were looking for a flat screen over 40" you should have narrowed down to DLP or plasma and plasma usually had the better picture.  LCD in the over 40" TV's today, can give any of them a run for the money.  If you have to have thin, I believe LCD is the best buy.  If you just want size, DLP is the way to go for value.  Plasma has a great picture, but the price, in my opinion, kills the deal.

    I have had a 42" Panasonic plasma for two years now and it has performed flawlessly and would recommend it to anyone. I'm sure the LCD and DLPs are good also. Just my  :2cents:

    My son works for Best Buy so I get some killer deals on stuff. We have 2 32 inch LCD's, one in our bedroom and one in the barn. I have a 42 inch plasma in the family room, and my son has a 42 inch LCD in his bedroom. I think the plasma has a little sharper pic, but it does throw off quite a bit of heat. The LCD's cant be beat for weight and size (depth). His LCD is pretty nice, I'd say it's a toss up.

    Where are you located at? He'd have to take delivery here and then you'd have to get it...I think thats how it works. I'll ask him when i get a chance.

    Make sure it has an LED bulb, otherwise you'll be forking out $200-$400 every year for replacements, and they are not covered by warranty.

    Son told me something that expensive is special order for most stores, so if it's not a stock item for his store, then there is not any sizeable discount for him. He will check to see if they have any in stock on friday when he goes back to work.

    my bulb was at 5200+ hours when it went, called mits to order another one and they charged me 0,nada,zip, plus they paid shipping. They are under warranty for 1 year but mine was 4 months past warranty. The diamond series use a 180 watt bulb. I have a 50 inch samsung lcd and there is no comparison in picture the mit blows it away I mean not even close. But the mits is big, its amazing how ugly some news casters really are when you can see their pores lol.

    I think the Mit is a good set I have a 65 inch rear projtion now but its only 1080i  :screwy: thats 7 years old and not a single prob.except its size its a deep TV.  :eek4:

    DLP is a dead technology. There are only two companies left making them and you're going to see them disappear in the next year or so as Mitsubishi's sales decline.

    I bought a 55 inch DLP Mitsubishi.  Its been 8 years and it still looks good.  The only complaint is that it doesn't have an auto calibration, but not a big deal.  The picture on DLP always looks more "natural" for lack of a better word.  LCD and especially plasmas look very digital.  Yes they look crisp and nice, but there is always something off (at least with me).  I am a big gamer and found that nothing is better for that than DLP.  LCDs and plasmas always have a slight ghosting effect that drives me nuts.  When I get another I'll be hard pressed to not get another DLP even though it is a dead technology it will still be around for awhile.  Besides, I like my TVs big and any LCD/Plasma bigger than 60 inches is big money.
