I remember years ago being at a wrecking yard and seeing a C body ( I believe a Fury) and it had rear disc brakes.
But it was a long time ago and I can't be sure what model or year it was.

SOME MERCURYS were factory equiped  with 9 inches and disc brakes. in 20 years, I broke 2 of them : 75 monarch 4 door with 302 and manual transmission and 75 monarch coupe with 351w and c6.

They don't mind the supercharger?

Check this out, says 74-75 was only 4 wheel disc

mid 70s Imperials had disc but the axle flange distance is not the same drum brakes so they either require some clearancing with stock axles or you need to order shorter axles for the diff

They won't let you have rear disk brakes even if it was for a safer stopping car?  Maybe you could call up the DMV and tell them that you did not like how unsafe you felt with old drums and how they fade so for the safety of yourself and other drivers you thought it was necessary to upgrade to a better braking system.

It seems most states' inspection rules are written by NON car guys.

Here in NC, you don't need a safety inspection on cars 35 years old or older.

NEW this year, a visual inspection of the VIN is required on old cars being titled here. I'm not sure of the cutoff year on that one.

Makes sense, right?    :screwy:

tvacudas in Denmark and most European countries have very strict rules about what is allowed on the road. In a nut shell, if it wasn't factory available, they don't want it on their roads.
