She is a numbers matching car.  I say leave her stock.  You have other rides to go fast in.  If someone wants to race you and you are in Lucy, tell them you will be right back.  Then come back in the 600+ hp Hemi Cuda and hand them their butt...   lol    :burnout:      :ylsuper:      :nzflag:

The trouble is people don't ever screw with you when you're in your fast car. They want to pick on the stock looking one.  :grinyes:

Thanks everyone for the input, I won't and don't want to be going into the internals or pulling the heads etc. The intake, carb and air cleaner sound like my best choice if I'm going to get a little more power. Only problem with that is a like the stock look and people often ask to see the engine bay (like all of our members cars, you know it happens) so I'd rather have the black air cleaner with 440 Magnum on it when the hood is opened.

Also, this isn't to race or brag or what ever. This is solely for me to enjoy. Stock (as-is) is OK and fine I guess after driving the SRT/10 it's just a little slow. The main problem is the power down low, take off is fine but then it gets into a flat spot. She barks the tyres hard and grips excellent but yeah, just a little lull then fine again higher up in the rpms. Anywhere when under way, especially out on the high way she gets up and moves. Traction is no problem.

Thanks for all the replies, input and help everyone.

A flat spot sounds like a carb metering problem. Maybe you just need a 800 Thunder AVS. It'll still look bone stock.

Maybe you are right, it would be worth going a different intake at that stage I guess and perhaps an open element K&N air cleaner. Anyone know what intake would go well with a stock 440, heads and all? That combo would be good for at least 30hp. Sounds like what I am after. Also, how much is too much in terms of cfm for a stock 440ci engine, 850cfm?

Your gonna have a hemicuda, you have a viper truck, what would you need to do to make a chally with air compete with those? I say just enjoy it as a no nonsense cruiser.

Keep it stock, just for the pleasure of having your own little time capsule there.
You already got two other rides for going fast.

The RPM Intake always wins the HP contest on a stock motor. I've seen just the new 800 AVS substituted for the stock 1970 AVS is worth 35+hp, even on a smaller 340. Add the good air cleaner and I don't see how you don't gain 30-40hp on a 440.

I think a different intake and 800 cfm avs replacement carburetor is the way to go. Are you running a K&N replacement filter in your air cleaner? The K&N high flow filter seems to help when you want to keep the stock look and gain hp.
