My dads 40 coupe
« on: December 26, 2008 - 06:51:01 PM »
My dad bought this car a couple of years ago and did not bother to cover it because he thought it had been repainted. Well it turns out that its the original paint lol. It has a few dings here and there but does not have much more than surface scale here and there for rust. It has 29k and is completely stock. When he starts it you can hardly hear it because its so quiet. Cool old ride I thought you guys might get a kick out of.

Those coupes around those few years are awesome.  Hard to find up here.  Very cool.  I'd drop a 318/518 or something like that in there and just cruise.   :bigshades:

A few kilometers south of Oslo, near a place I once lived, I occasionally saw one of those on the road and looking absolutely georgeous in traffic. Real quiet too, could only heard a nice low purr from it.

My mom had one of those before I was born we had pictures of it.  Would not mind to have a project like that also.  Thanks for sharing your pictures.
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

Thanks, we are in the process of putting up a very big carport for his stuff. It will have a couple of walls to block the worst of the wind that comes from west to east. He got some huge H beams from a demolished building and has made some 3 inch pipe trusses for it. I keep bugging him to get his cars out of the elements. He has a 49 coupe that is a roller and I have a 53 4 door New Yorker that he keeps threatening to give away to my cousins since I never do anything with it. I guess he can claim the 53 willys jeep as a mopar too lol.

That car has quite the sun visor.   :screwy:

I guess that's how they did it back then.

Thanks Ken. The interior is pretty roasted from the New Mexico sun but all in all its in pretty good shape. Mike, the visor does kinda give the car that cartoon Cars type feel to it. I have kind of grown fond of it myself.

Thanks Dave, I just wish my dad had kept the 70 Coronet 440 that started it all for me. It was a 4 door but who cares, it had that cool front end with the double bumpers and more important is it had a 440 under the hood   :woo:
