instrument voltage limiter

gday guys,havent been around for a while,kinda lost interest in my car for a while there.time for a change i think.roadrunners-68 in particular have taken my fancy,anyways,my gauges show symptoms of a faulty voltage limiter.can i buy a new one (solid state ?) off the shelf or do i have to modify mine and where can i get one?thanks :aussie:

     AUSSIE E BODY.................Did you send off to RTE for a voltage stabiliser ?     Because i have, and have recieved no reply or confirmation. so i emailed them and the

email came back saying unsent "known spammer"     Im getting worried, have paid them $60 !!!

try calling them on the phone Apparently they have had problems in the past with that, From there site.

These are so easy to make it is a joke. Here is the one I made to power some sensors. You don't need the heat sink I fitted in the photo. I was just testing if I could wire up my sensors without it getting hot. It didn't get hot.

I'd buy the RT eng one.  I built 1 like suggested in Mopar article, it never worked well.  If you do the calculations you'll see it can't supply enough current.

Each of the 3 gauges has only 4-6ohms of resistance at the extreme.  So it has to supply 5V/(5/3)ohms  = 3A.  The regualtor is only rated up to 1A.
I even put a heatsink on mine, it does get extremely hot, still not good.  My oil pressure gauge never worked right, went back to the stock unit and all it fine.

    Still had no reply from rt-engineering about the one i have paid for via their website.............. I have sent an email to every address they have given.

                I dont want to have to phone them from the uk to find out whats going on !      The website is down at the moment too !!!       :stomp:



                Whats the time difference anyway between ARKANSAS and  the  UK  ???       Dont know what time to phone   :clueless:   :1zhelp:
