70 Cuda Mirrors
« on: December 28, 2008 - 07:27:34 PM »
Hello guys,

Quick question. On a 70 Cuda, the Driver side mirror and Passanger side mirror are different size from the factory? Or did 70 only come with one mirror?  I have a 70 Cuda and it came with two different mirrors. The passenger side is 6 inch wide and the drivers side is a bit narrower, about 5 1/2 inchs wide. The shape from the out side is almost the same. The passenger however does look a little more pointer.

the 70 used unique mirrors , the base is shorter than other years & the shape of the right mirror is more pointed to the outside as you noted , the right side 70 mirror can typically sell for $350 or more

Does anyone have a picture of proper 70 Cuda Mirrors? So I can compare.

So the right side mirror only came one year in that shape? What happened in 71? They never made a left to match the right. It gets confusing because I have seen matching sets on a 70 too, and they both look like the left side.

Yes, it's another "'70 only" qwerk. I believe '71 to '74 look the same, left & right, with a longer base (as mentioned)

The 1970 cars you see with matching mirrors is wrong. The owners maybe couldn't find the correct right side, maybe didn't like the '70 look, or maybe didn't want to pay the big bucks for it.

You are out of luck there. My only advice would be to find some sad looking mirror on E-Bay, or at a swap meet, then you could take the guts from it.

EDIT: If you do decide to look for a donor mirror, the guts from a 71-74 B-Body mirror will work for you too.

I will be going with a 73 'cuda pass. mirror on my 70. I was always cofused about that sharp edged mirror. I think they look a little goofy and as you can tell with my build, originality be damned.

Truth be told, I have 71-74 E-body mirrors on my car. The big reason was they were cheaper, but I like the look of the wider base too.

OK,, Are these 71-74 mirrors? The left mirror is still looks different from the right. The right side mirror has flat spot towards the end and than it gets pointy at the tip. The left looks like it has more lines and has no flat spot or point. I guess no years ever had 2 identical mirrors.
