    Aeromotive ss fuel pump

    I need a new fuel pump since mine is only putting out 3-4lbs of pressure and was looking at the aeromotive one. Seeing if anyone one else is using one and how will it hold up cruzing the streets? Also would like to know where you guys mounted it since it says to mount lower then the tank, but while i was looking under there our tanks hang a lot lower then the frame rails. If anyone has any sugestions on a better electric fuel pump please let me know. thanks

    I'm not familiar with that brand of fuel pump. As a recommendation, this pump from Mallory is good. It's so quiet, you can't even hear it run with the engine shut off. They say it is somewhat adjustable, but you still need a fuel pressure regulator for it.

    I have an Aeromotive A1000 pump and a Aeromotive regulator. You need a regulator unless it pumps less than a cam driven pump, if it does then it is pointles to have an electric pump. In my case it is mounted on the underside of the trunk floor.
    It is fine like that as per alot of racers on Moparts and The Supercharger Store who deals with Aeromotive pumps ALOT.

    I run a aeromotive and make sure you run a fuel pressure regulator under the hood as well......

    What I did was run full braid and make a fitting on the sending unit...  :swaying:

    no problems to date and I mount a fuel filter before the pump and filters right before the carb also  :bigsmile:

    Make sure you dont put the pump on backwarda and suck the other way  :scared:

     I put my pump in the tank for noise and cooling of the pump so I dont know about the lower than the tank problum but I have heard of it.
    I think its a suction thing when it first starts  :dunno: but I may be wrong  :clueless:

    O Ya run a return line from the regulator you can use the stock line for the return and run a new line for the feed.

    I dont run one......  :bigsmile: I have actually seen pics of a1000's in the trunk right next to the fuel cell sucking out of the top... I dont think its that big of a deal at all...  :2cents:

    The pump says its gravity fed thats why i asked so it sounds like its not much on a issue. I already have an aeromotive regulator thats 5-12 psi with a guage. Thats how i found out that its only got between 3 and 4 pounds, the demon carb says that it needs 6 lbs of pressure.

    It still has to to suck it out from the tank wether the pump is beside or below it... im thinking they mean just dont mount the fuel pump like 2 feet higher than the tank so it doesnt suck up..  :scared:

    Yep, I forgot to add in my post that I run a return line and 100 icron ilter before pump and a 10 micron after pump.

    How are you guys running a return line into the tank? Whille i was changing my passenger side spring hanger i did notice that there were like 4 or 5 tubes ging into the top of the tank. What are those tubes used for?

    a tell tale sign of a return needed is if you fuel regulator guage needle bounces erractically... my buddies triple nickle nova that ran high 8's started doing that at the regulator and he ran a return hose back to the tank and it went away...... my other buddies 8 second mopar didnt do it at all  :dunno: he had a high dollar magna fuel system though  :working:

    I am using the old line out pickup tube for my return line into the tank. I have a new feed line outlet in my tank.

    I dont know if the vent tube would work  :dunno:
     you could drill out the small tube next to the oem pickup tube and add a fitting for the return line.  :thinkerg:
