Vintage Trans/Am Wheel sizes (not the car, the race series)
« on: December 30, 2008 - 05:16:12 PM »
Hi guys, basically just a confirmation question for you.
I am about to order a set of rims and I wanted to make sure that a want 15x8 on
all for
corners and not to buy 15x7 for the front and 15x8 for the rear?
the 15x8 B/S is 4.33" and the 15x8 is 4.4" B/S
These rims will be for my fat tire Trans/Am period look, but I am not sure about
the rim size.
The company list the 7 8 combo as the trans am correct but then they have a
listing for
mustang trans/am in all 4 15x8.
Am I blabing? I'll stop now.
Bla BlaBla BlaBla BlaBla Bla.....
Oh look it's beer o'clock... :canada: :wavingflag: :aussie:

Are you looking at Vintage Wheel Works V48's? I really love those wheels. Personally I would get all in 8". As for originality, I wouldn't know which is coorect, all 8 or 7/8 stagger?
I hate to refer you to another site but you might want to contact the guy that runs transamcuda.com  Jeffus@jeffus.com

I'd like to hear the answer to that.  The V48's are the ones I'm intending on getting at some point.  I was thinking 17x8's all the way around.  I'd like to see pictures of whatever you get for reference.  I love that road racing look.

The race cars used Minilite wheels, 15x8 on all four corners, real magnesium wheels. These are still available from Minilite, BTW. http://www.minilitewheels.us/default.aspx

The series rules limited the wheels to 8 inches in width, max. Spec tire was a racing slick 27x10x15 maximum, supplied by Goodyear or Firestone.

I like the V48's      Might get some bigger black 5 spokes to show off the brakes more someday.  These are 17's   8" and 9".       Minilites should be available in 17's pretty soon.

245's    265's   I think  :clueless:  Not much left of 'em.   :poopoke:  Lit them up good.   Let me check.   The rims are all 17's   8" Front  4.5 backspacing.     9" rear 5" backspacing.   have plenty of room. I'm going to relocate the springs in and go for 315's someday. New rims.  These tires were 350 bucks mounted and balanced. Just to get going.

Those pics are with SS springs in the upper hole of the perch. And the front end slammed down.  Now it's just a tad higher in front.  Slight rubbing on pass. side turning and going up an incline at the same time.
