Anyone Have a Good Eye?
« on: January 01, 2009 - 12:18:48 PM »
Just wanted to confirm my observations with these lower control arms.

Does anything look out of whack?

Everything looks as it should to me.......... :2thumbs:

Looks like typical rough Mopar engineering at its best :clapping: :cooldancing:

looks like a washer welded on for the sway bar on the bottom picture and it needs the rubber stops to. Can't tell much by the pictures tho

I know ...I`ve seen mine....  :faint: but still...  on the shaft side there is a dent in the flange and it looks to me as if the shaft is angled down a bit  :clueless:  still could well be camera angle though.  Even if it were bent a little, I doubt if it would be a problem, exept maybe for stength  :dunno:

I see where you mean and know what your saying, i think the sway bar mount would be an issue as the distance from the arm to the hole are different from one another, like Alan pointed out.

Good ideas all, thanks. I'm leaning towards Dutch's thought, the passenger side looks tweaked to me also. Maybe from a curb shot. (Not that I'd have any knowledge of how that might have happened.  :banghead:) The strut bushing and grommet are worn more on that side also. As for the washer welded on the pads, that was done on both sides because of tears from hard nylon sway bar end bushings.

I'm planning to send them both up to FFI for investigation and if it's repairable they will weld plates on the the lower section for better support.

Another question, when loosening the torsion bar tension the driver side took 20 turns to release and pressure. The passenger side only needed 11-1/2. The tension bolts show the distance also. What might be up with that.  :clueless:

If the car sat level then it is possible the frame is tweaked?

The bars could have been 1 hex off from each other too.
