Stroker,  Who put you rear floor pans in?  They didn't push the pans all the way back to the rear frame rails before welding them in. The floor is a big part in a unit-body.

I put a set of AMD floors in my Vert and had to do some hammering to close up that gap. My gap was nowhere as big as yours. If you look at the rear section, this floor section makes up 3/4s of the side to side crossmember, that ties your two rockers and rear framerails together.   That should be closed up or water will go right into your frame rail and start rusting the side that holds your front leafspring bracket.

I have installed probably 15+ sets using 1x2 tube
yeah I make my own & weld them in
Sweet. With all the welding and fabrication that i have done, i should be able to tackle building a set of frame connectors. :2thumbs:

I like using 2x3 tube on edge, I slit the floor and rear frame at the end, slide it into the frame about 3 or 4 inches and then up into the floor weld the floor to the sides of the tube and to the frame ends.
It raises the carpet a bit inside but no one will notice.
It gives the car a much better all around connection that way.

I planned on the 2x3 boxed also, then bought the XV connectors. I didn't put anything in yet but after seeing the work involved putting those in, I might still go with the 2x3s.  I usually don't have anyone in my back seat and the Vert really requires the strength of the full add-in.

I bought a set of US car tool sub frame connector same as XV, and I decided against using them and going with my 2x3 tube cut floor style.
The XV and US car tool frame connectors are a bit big and a lot of work to install.
Plus if I want to ad a roll bar in the future the 2x3 connectors will be an excellent mounting point for the bar.
