My baby's first kill... <sniff sniff>
« on: June 02, 2002 - 11:45:52 PM »
After reading all the other kill stories on here, I started getting the itch...  ;)

Well, being primarily a show car, I never thought 'ol Grrreen would get the chance very often, but being as I take 'er out pretty much every chance I get, I knew it was bound to happen some time.  And what better time for it to happen then after installing a fresh new cam, changing the rear, and dropping a Holley on 'er! ;D

Seeing as Chryco and I had some fun tuning the Holley, I just had to take 'er out.  And it's pretty hard to keep the loud pedal off the floor most of the time.

Well, I was just coming back from a "Test run", (as I like to call it  ;)), and decided to take the "long way" home... I dropped 'er into first, and tromped it around a corner, and whaddya know?   An older Chivvy truck (Cragars n' all) starts tailgating me... Revvin and snortin... He follows me for about a block, so I know he REALLY wants to get a taste of Mother Mopar.

There are some lights up ahead, so I kinda go slow so that we catch the next red...   Just as I thought, Bowtie Boy pulls up next to me.  I don't even have to look at him. I know that he's gonna push that truck as hard as he can. I have no idea what he has under the hood, but I figure, "what the hell", and drop it into first and wait for the light to change.

Bing! Light goes green, and I half-er.  Don't even put it to the floor.  Wait for the slight Holley bog, then tromp it!  He keeps up with me pretty close... though I'm slightly pulling away.  about half a block, he has to shift into second...  right when ol' Grrreen hits her power band.  Good bye is all I have to say...  I pulled ahead over a car length before he gets his bucket into second, and from there he saw nothing but tail lights as I pulled away shifting up to second and squawking my baby's tires in his face...

I have no idea what he had under the hood, but I really don't care... MAN did that feel good...  ;D

Personally, I H8 GM....  ;D

My Baby's first Kill!!  I'm so proud!  :'( Makes me feel like cryin'...

:D I think as long as it runs THAT good, I'd leave a little "Holly bog", it makes the other guy think he has a chance ;D ;D ;D.

Thanks for the compliments on the car! I LOVE the color combo... either people hate it, or they like it I find...

And Chryco is right... the bog, she be gone now.. The car is much MUCH stronger...

I guess I should post more often if it will get him in my garage to do some tweaking...  ;)

Did I mention that he is a God?  ;D

I too, find that most people will not come up beside me... especially ricers... I was actually suprised when the bow tie truck pulled up..

I'd love to race him again now... With the latest bit 'o tuning Chryco has done, I'd seriously whip his ass all over the street now... Even worse than last time...  8)

There's nothing like a good cam and a properly tuned Holley carb... ****e, she really pulls hard now...

First of all, good kil, I love reading about them...almost as much as doing them.

I find this happening a lot also when I'm driving the Challenger. I tend to sit back away from the crosswalk line as it is. Just incase some idiot loses control in the intersection (happened to my neighbor), or if I see someone is about to hit the person behind me, I get a few extra feet before being pushed into cross traffic...Anyway, I'm 5 or 6 feet back usually, & many people won't even pull up even with the the door. I find it so funny.  Do people really find the car that intimidating? I'm 6 ft back, plus the about 8 feet from the bumper to the rear of the door. This ever happen to anybody else?

I get that all the time. I either sit back a few from the stop and others will either stop back a few or pull up past me. I found it really funny at first, now it's just an everyday thing.
I love the guys with the loud stereos that pull up beside me. Sometimes I will put her into 'N' and rev it up to let him know that my exhaust is louder than his tunes ;D
