Shaker baseplate question
« on: January 01, 2009 - 06:58:28 PM »
I'm putting a shaker hood on my vert. The car has a 426 hemi in it with a single 4 barrel. The question is what baseplate do I need to get? Will I need the 340, 383, 440 or do I need to make something special? Thanks for any suggestions. Jay

I would think either the 440  4 bbl , not sure how high the Hemi is by comparision but you will want it short , the people who sell these should have a good idea

I've has issue with this since I got my car. I dont know what was used originally, but it was hacked to acomidate (sorry cant spell) the holley DP. So we made a base from another air cleaner base we had laying around. I am running the mopar intake with the flat paper gasket and still have a bit of a rubbing issue. That is the shaker bubble rubbing under the hood, please post what you find out!!

Ditch the single four-barrel and get a Stage V intake and dual Carter/Edelbrocks.

FHO has the baseplate already made up for this setup.  They sell the intake too for a good price.

I'll check into this option too. Thanks for the link. I wanted to go with the dual edelbrocks in the first place but didn't want to get into making a baseplate if I could avoid it.

there 2 other things to consider , if you are going with eddy carbs use the AVS Thunder series , they are far better than the Afb
there is also a spread dual 4 bbl intake that will take Holleys , that would be my choice & I believe there si a shaker base made for them as well
