Part brands for rebuild: Which ones do you use?

My engine is going to be getting re built so I would like to hear some recommendations on what brands and things I should buy.

Are coated bearings a plus? Or not a necessity?
What rings are most recommended? I've used Sealed Power and Perfect Circle brands before.
Anything better I should consider?

This is what will be the basis:
426 Hemi, 10:1 compression, 472 stroker crank kit w/Forged pistons, Hyd. cam: Bullet/Ultradyne grind

Then theres the subject on gaskets. For the head gaskets I've used Fel Pro before. My past 340 went 15+ years on a set of Fel Pros. So I think they're a safe bet.

I use Clevite / michigan 77 brgs , I have not used coated
 I will check on ring choice
 Fel Pro is definatly one of the top brands to use

 :iagree:  Speed Pro/Sealed power are good rings. The important thing is to have sufficent gap. Once the ends butt and they twist in the bore they will no longer seal. Best to err on the side of safety there. Cardone makes good replacement and rebuilt parts. The machine shop I work at does work for them and they are PICKY.

I have used clevite triarmor coated bearings. They are only needed in high rpm /supercharger/turbo engines with lots of hp. And you must check the clearances with plastigauge etc. They look awesome with their blue coated surface.  :icon16:  Btw, you should check clearances with normal bearings aswell.

I have also used speed pro-competition series bearings which destroy themselves and usually save the crankshaft if something goes wrong.

Speed pro have good rings.
For your engine i would use standard Clevite / michigan 77 bearings.

I also found 1 too long bearing in my last small block build. It was speed pro competition series. So remember to check everything when u build it.

Definately, always tripple check your parts and clearances.

I have the coated bearings. Without going into detail, they work. We noticed a problem when on the dyno, opened it up, replaced the bearings and adjusted timing instead of fixing the crank.

we use lots of total seal rings but the bore has to be very straight and round for good results. The boss says the coated shells are a halve thou thicker because of the coating so you must be careful to get the rite oil spacing. i hate working sundays but the ot is nice and i get to play on here at coffeetime !
