WTT '70 Charger R/T
« on: January 04, 2009 - 09:28:17 PM »
Ok guys.  I've always kinda wanted a '68 (maybe '70) Charger.  I've always wanted a Challenger, too.  Well, I've gotten one of these things accomplished.  I figure the only other way to have the other, is to trade.  Now hear me out, before the villagers come with the torches, lol.  I'm not going to settle for a car.  Nope, this has to be one I really want.  My Challenger I have now, I kinda stumbled on it, and it was a good deal, and it was a Challenger.

Now, for what I'm looking for.  It has to be either a '68 or a '70.  I'm not huge on the '69 grill.  Keep in mind, I dont want a project car.  A car that I can work on while I drive, (like I have now) is preferred.  A solid car is much more important than a car that needs paint.  An R/T is what I'm looking for.  Options on the tag are a minute detail, I dont care.  Colors, whatever.  I understand that I wont get a 4 speed, auto is fine.  If I cant get an R/T, thats ok, show me what you have to trade, least I can say is no!   :grinyes:

Here is what I have.  '71 Challenger, #'s match everywhere, 383/727, 2 broadcast sheet, Hemi Orange white interior/white top car. My car is basically original, and has some rust, too. It would need a trunk floor, extensions, and quarter patches. (I have a new two piece floor) But the rest of the car is very solid. There is factory undercoating, and when I pulled the carpet up, almost all of the original paint is still on there. No rust on the roof or anything or by any windows. As far as options, it doesnt have too many. Front sway bar, side moulding, A/C, and a few more, but nothing too special.

Like I said, I dont really want to settle for a car, so I'm not expecting anyone is going to come running anytime soon.  Expect me to have my Challenger for a while anyway.   :grinyes: :smokin:

I am in WI, if you want to talk, post here, PM me, or email me, its under my profile.

Edit:  Would consider '70 RR/GTX trades, too.  I know I'm not going to get show quality, show me your drivers.

Good luck Steve, sounds like a solid plan. I am willing to bet if you shop this deal around you will not have much problem getting someone to go for it. Everyone comes to a point where they want something different.

'68 Chargers are cool.  I have a friend that was thinking of selling his, but not anymore since winter is here.  Wanted like $25k.

Have you ridden in one before, they ride diferent than E-bodies do.  Doesn't your cousin or someone have a brown/burnt orange Road Runner?  I would imagine the ride to be similar to a '68 Charger as they are both B-bodies.  :dunno:

Yeah, two cousins have RR's, a '69 and a '70.  I've ridden only in the '70, its much smoother than my car if I remember, its been a while.

I hate to see you get rid of your Challenger, but I understand.  At least you are staying in the Mopar family   :2thumbs:

Oh yeah, I wouldnt stray from Mopar.  I did find a few, but nobody wants to trade right now, I think a lot of people are cashing out.  Found a decent one here:

http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php?topic=52365.msg574884;boardseen#new

I think I'm going to call.  Doesnt sound like its worth as much as mine, though (trying to not sound snooty   :roflsmiley: )

And I found a #'s matching R/T in ohio on cars-on-line, about the same amount of work that my car needed, but the ad is gone today, I'm sure someone snapped it up, it was for sale @ 16k obo.  Good deal, IMO.   :crying:

I also have a eye for the Chargers and would consider trading my Challenger if the right car presented it's self.  I'm right on with you as I would probably like a 68 first, and the 70.  However, I have been growing more and more fond of larger trim on the nose of the 70, and I especially like the decals on the 70's hood.

Yeah, the '70's are pretty neat, too.  The nose chrome is what stops me from liking it over the '68.

Here's one, but it looks like maybe too much of a project again.  Affordable price though, IMO.

One thing I do like about the '70, is that you never see them compared to '68 and '69.  I think the '70 is the more rare of the bunch.

I have always liked the 68 Chargers and really enjoy driving mine. It drives different then the Challenger, but both are fun to play with. Hope you find what your looking for, good luck!

I found that six pak Charger.  I thought it'd be forever away since its in Canada.  I looked it up, and its closer than the southern side of the state!  5.5 hours straight north of here, just inside the border.  Dont find many unrestored 6 packs anymore...
