Glad you are okay.  Let this remind ALL of us that we need to be safe when working on our cars especialy if you are alone at your shop.  I too have be pinned against a wall by a falling car - it's not fun and scary as HE77!

Get well soon and as soon as you can hug your wife & daughter.  :angelwings:   Then - kick the car it'll make you feel a little better   :swear:

                                                            A Safety Call
I am really glad nothing horrible happened to Jason, I really hope he gets well and continues to work on his car as he has been.  After being an F-15E Crew Chief for 5 years I have become very safety conscious because of the things I’ve seen in this career field.
When working on cars, a lot of us get motivated and happy to fact that we’re making progress in our projects that we overlook the small things, and these small things are the ones that can take your life away or change it forever.
Gentlemen, I really think that this is a wakeup call for all of us and a great opportunity for us to add a safety section on this website, for example:  section where we can post safety tips, do’s and dont’s when welding, etc.  Heck we can even post some of our accidents, since a lot of people learn from other’s accident, I know I did when I worked in the flight line. I am not trying to hijack this thread or anything, but I would like to at least throw this idea to you guys.
So we can make this website greater.

Always support the car by multiple methods just in case one fails.  When I jack up a car I put it on stands AND I keep the floor jack in place just barely making contact with the car just in case one of the stands collapses.  I also rock the car back and forth and left and right to make sure it is stable before getting underneath.

..... and NEVER get a under a car when there is no one else around. We lost a good 'ole transmission guy around here a few years back (he worked out of his home) just because the air bumper jack that he was using came down and it did not crush him,it just kept him from expanding his lungs to breath. His wife found him 4 hours later.  :(   Rest in peace Cliff.  :angelwings:

Stroker, glad to hear you're on the road to recovery.  Anyone who's ever had a close call knows how scary it can be.

I second the suggestion to add an accident/safety section.  The company that I work for puts out "hot sheets" that share accidents between the facilities so that each plant can review the issue to see if it's a risk with the current work practice.

I hope this is the worst news we ever hear.

Thx a ton guys..... Im sore as crap..... I am getting more mobile maybe its from the pain pills. they say everything happens for a reason... maybe someday ill find out why this happened  :working: It was the scariest thing i ever went through it felt like a vise squeezing on me.......  :working:
Your close call is a good reminder to me to make sure my car is properly supported and use backup in case s**t happens.  Perhaps that is the reason?   :-[   Glad to hear you are okay!

Wow I'm glad you are going to be ok (hopefully).  The story is somewhat scary as I think about the times I am guilty of taking a short cut.  The one thing that I do do is to throw the tire I took off under the car just in case (that is in case I don't bother with jack stands) but most of these measures wouldn't have helped your situation.
Unfortunately not having an e-brake and no driveshaft really hurt you.  What looks safe isn't always, becareful  :working:

I have just crawled out from under my Challenger, I have been working on it for a year now.
I was just trying to tighten my steering link to the steering box shaft and couldn't help from thinking of all the weight above my chest.
It's all secure and can't be budged but that story and Steven King have me bugged today
I am trying to torque the nut to 175 ft lbs and thats a lot of leverage. Got it most of the way but desided to tighten it the rest of the way later when I am not alone.
working under the dash now, hooking up my Keisler hydraulic master cylinder. Hmmmmm where to put it.
