Good luck with whatever you do, but a guy with an original Hemi Cuda convertible needing garage space and money to restore it seems kind of strange to me. I am sure he knows what the 6-pack car is worth and what it would take to restore it. My guess is, if he needs money to help finance the restoration of the Hemi Cuda vert he will need more money than most people would be willing to give. Good luck. Seriously.

I read it as an original 426 hemi going into a 'Cuda convertible, not that it was an original hemicuda vert. I may be wrong though.

All the R code e body verts made are accounted for from what I last heard.

as nice and correct as possible, I bet it wouldn't pull $75K in todays market....probably far less

Whatever the seller's motives, I would be very cautious of looking at this as an investment.  There are a lot of really nice cars trading hands for 75% to 50% of what they would have brought a couple of years ago.

I watched a friend try this over the last year, building a Hemi 'Cuda (tribute) that should have brought $85-90k in a normal economy.  He let it go for less than he had in it ($55k).

now he is turning his attention to a 1970 Cuda convertible with a factory Hemi in it and needs the money and the room.

Maybe I am misreading it  :dunno: :clueless:. Either way I hope he can get the car pretty cheap or it's an uphill battle.

Thanks for the feedback.  For whoever asked; I'm in Phoenix.

The future of the market is anyone's guess.  I'm figuring, how many chances do you get to own a real 440 6 pack car with a factory shaker hood in Vitamine C.  The car is a local car, sold in Arizona and it's been in this garage since 1979.  The odom shows 51,000 miles.

The guy knows his stuff and has multiple Cuda's and Challengers, so there is no "deal" here.  He wants $35,000 for the car and like I said earlier it's been stripped to bare metal and the panels and floor pans are perfect, not even a spot of bondo anywhere.  While BJ is not the main reason I would purchase the car, it's an easy way to sell it in the next few years and get many qualified buyers in one place.  I live 3 miles from where the auction happens.

I just don't know if it will take another $35,000 to finish the car or is it closer to $50,000.  I did my 1967 SS Covert Camaro for about $25,000 after buying it for $8,000 as it was pretty rough.  I know Cuda's are not the same, that's why I'm here.

I've never been a fan of high dollar cars as I enjoy driving them.  I would be just as happy with a 318 Cuda I could paint the color I want, drop a 383 in and add customized touches here and there to make it my own.  Plus I would be in it for half the price or less.  I just don't want the car of a lifetime to pass me by without doing my homework.

Well what are the chances you will ever get another one like that? Probably Zero.

Interesting. My 70 440-6 Cuda is currently Tor-Red, but was a factory shaker, Vitamin-C, black interior, black vinyl top, stripe delete car and will eventually go back to the original color. No rust, never wrecked, all original body panels, 58,000 miles and still has a 1976 inspection sticker on the windshield. I wish that I would have saved more money and bought a finished car though. Good luck whatever you decide.

Was it lot 787.1? If so what kept the price down was the fact that it is an automatic, non dana 60, non shaker hood car, and a 22 inch radiator. And that it was at the Vegas auction adn not Scottsdale.

To make the car valuable enough at BJ I think you are going to be closer to 50k estimate to finish it "correct". 35k+50k will be more than you can realistically expect to get for a while until the economy stabilizes. I'm thinking the car market will be soft for 3-5 years on musclecars. Exotics are still a decent investment.
