Bought some good parts today for my stroker
« on: January 07, 2009 - 11:26:15 PM »
I am getting ready to build me an eight mile car.  I went to visit a friend today and he gave me a very good deal on these parts listed

complete untouched 72 400
4.15  499 source crank     New in box
milodon gear drive  almost new    10 1/4 mile passes on it
dana 60 complete  (Truck) to be narrowed
2 inch hooker headers. used but very useable

So I got a very good start for my new project.

I need to get some rods, pistons, and a good set of heads. I have a roller cam already.  I want the compression close to 15-1. Planning on 3000 lb car.  Ladder bar rear

The guy next to my shop bought my old B-1 heads and he mentioned to me they were for sale. Pretty radical. Raised port - floors filled with epoxy. They were on a 499 stroker motor. I think he still has the Intake too. If you're interested I'll ask him what he wants.

Al - take a look at the bearing housing ends supplied by DTS www.drivetrainspecialists.com. You weld them in once you have the diff narrowed from PU truck dimensions. They make them to fit the Ford Truck sealed taper roller bearings. Much stronger setup than the green bearings which I have and will most likely regret. Mind you - I have not seen a Ford wheel c/w axle floating down the road lately. The setup I mention from DTS saves you the hassle of trying to fit the floating center pin in the Dana gearset and still gives you lots of strength for the corners.
