Fuel pump? What's everyone running?

I'm upgrading my car to 3/8" fuel lines in advance of my ~400hp 340, and was wondering what fuel pumps folks are running. The stocker on my 318 is barely doing its job, so it's getting the axe. Should I stay mechanical or go electric? I've looked into the holley electric pumps which seem good, but will a higher performance mechanical do just as well? Is there an advantage to either? Thanks!

I am in the process of uprgrading my self... I ran 6an full braid with 140gph pump....

Mechanical is more reliable and enough for 400hp. Atleast new high performance mechanical is.

If you want electrical, try Carter GP4600HP (103usd from summit) or Holley blue 12-802-1 (135usd summit).
I have used them both and they work very well. Holley makes little more noise.

I'm not really sure I want to go electric, staying mechanical would be easier. Probably need about 100 gph to be safe. Is anyone using an aftermarket mechanical they're happy with? What would be the advantage of going electric, other than not having to prime the carb if I run it out of gas?

Reduced parasitic loss on the engine
Eliminate heating the fuel with the engine block (vapor lock)
It's better to push the fuel instead of pull it

A mechanical pump is very capable of flowing 100gph. If you're looking for simple, stay with the mechanical. On the other hand, I have the Holley HP125 electric pump and have been very happy with it. It's internally regulated to 7 psi so no external regulator is required. It makes some noise, but not nearly as noisy as some other electric ones I've heard.

I generally use HV Mechanical pumps , if I have to go electric Mallory is very quiet better gearotor deisgn as well over the vane type Holley

I  have a HV Carter and am very happy with it.

You gotta have one quiet motor to ever hear a small electric pump over the engine. 

Another advantage - You can hide the switch to disable the motor in case the car is ever jacked.

That's what I was looking for! I've had electric fuel pump cars before, in fact, my '56 Austin Healey ran an original points type electric for awhile (talk about a PITA!). Obviously I expect the modern solid state pumps to be less troublesome. I'm not worried about loud either, I doubt I'll be able to hear it over my exhaust.

Although keeping things simple is nice, still not sure I want to mess with the mounting and wiring. Not that I can't do it, I just dislike messing with electrical stuff.
