I have a B.A in Political Science and a B.A in Psychology.  I was going to go to Law School and changed my mind after working in a firm for a year as a Paralegal in preparation for it.  I took my LSAT got accepted at several schools, but didn't like what I saw at the firm.  Kinda made me sick sometimes.  So I went back to school and got a B.S. in Computer Science and stayed for a Master's degree in Computer Science.  I was offered a chair at UTSA to work on my PhD in Artificial Intelligence, but IBM came along and offered me way to much money.... and I was kinda getting tired of the poor college student thing.  I may go back for a PhD someday.

I have a B.A. in History, which may or may not completely useless. Trying to get into law school right now. Don't know if it's what I actually want to do, but I'll figure it out once the letters of admission (or non admission) start arriving.

My father was a carpenter and my parents wanted "better" for me and pushed me to take college prep courses in HS instead of going to voc like i wanted to.I lasted(partied my a$$ off  :drunk: ) 1 semester of college, hated it(except for the beer and girls) and dropped out.

Trade school for Auto Mech (Straight A's  :smokin:) then many courses in management and supervision when I was doing that. Also Laser maintenance training (Convergent resonators) and Sigmanest Laser nesting software training. All of which has proven totally worthless to me as I've had my resume on Career Builder for a year with no luck. Sheetmetal is a dead industry. I'm now learning to run and program a 5 axis Star swiss screw machine from my best friend (and employer) because their seems to be many jobs running them for very decent $$$ and he just bought one. We're learning it together.

I hear ya on sheet metal being a dying trade,I started in a shop right after I dropped out and except for 7-8 years of doing body work fulltime I have been in it ever since.Right now I am very lucky to still have a job as we have had layoffs and my bosses have to been to more bankruptcy auctions of other local sheet metal shops in the last few years than I can count.Unfortunatly I`m kinda stuck as I make pretty good money and don`t have any other job I could get for the same pay,I just hope we last the recession!

Yeah you should add an option for a vocational program or similar.

I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music from PennState University, and also a "Certificate" from the Wyoming Technical Institute in Automotive Technology.  I could have gotten an associates degree, but it wasn't an "official degree" and I didn't feel like taking the ridiculously boring class I needed to get it.

Jeff

Yeah,
I didn't see a box for a 4 year apprenticeship program. :dunno: I attended the apprenticeship (4 years) at Norfolk Naval Shipyard) DOD civil servant. I am a 1st class marine machinist certified by the US Navy and by the state of VA and have since moved into the engineering dept (same place) and am now a Lead Test Engineer working in the submarine test branch. It is a very interesting and technical field, but was a long road as I've been working for the Navy for 30 YEARS this year!!! Occasionally I get to blow stuff up!!  :woo:that's not supposed to happen, but in 30 years I've blown up a few things!! :smilielol:

I don't know nothin, didn't learn nuthin, not going to learn nothin, cant make me learn nothin.  I think

Consider me a dumb arse, and we can work up the scale from there.  I tell this job that anyways :2thumbs:  No pressure that way, and I make enough money to keep me and some around me happy. That's all I want is to be happy.  They forced me to go to school for three days this week. I just got home. They gave me some certificates, but I will chuck them.  I live by the seat of the pants and heart.

Now my wife has a degree, and been to college. But she stays home and doesn't work.  And if I want a degree. She would give me the 3rd degree if I speak certain words....So back to my first comment...I know nothing.   The more you let them know, the more your expected to do.

I have had SEVERAL jobs that require 4 yrs of college and a yr on the job. I learned them in 6 months. I get really bored doing the same things all the time.

The rest of my family...brothers, sister, and children, they all have degrees. They all went to college. Like nurses, engineers, and stuff like that...I'm happy for them. I hear them brag all the time.   They haven't even made 1/5 the money I have made in my life and put up.  And I don't tell them. When I'm dead, they will know.

Gordon, what's a degree?   Do I really need one?  I'm too old to worry about papers now.   How does one measure success?  In degrees?  Toys? Or just happy with being stable.

Darn my wife just came in my room asking me stupid stuff. I told her what she didn't want to hear. Now I'm getting the 3rd degree :swear:
