My car and another
« on: January 09, 2009 - 06:43:53 PM »
Hi guys.  As some of you know, I kinda am thinking of trading my car.  Looking for a '68 or '70 Charger R/T.  Anyway, I found this one, and gave him a call:

http://madison.craigslist.org/cto/967509376.html

He said that it is a solid project.  It would need lower rear quarters, he said trunk extensions were fine, and it would need a center trunk floor.  Rails are all good, everything under the hood is good, fenders are good, as are doors.  By the rear window is rusty (normal for the charger).

Slightly negatives:  No fender tag or broadcast sheet.  But he does know who has them, and the guy knows he has the fender tag for sure.

The positives?  Lemon twist black interior and top, black stripe 4 speed dana Charger R/T.  All numbers match except engine.  I said I maybe had a car to trade, and as soon as I said "71 Challenger" I could tell his interest peaked.  He told me later as we talked that '71 was his favorite year.  I'm going to send him pictures tonight.

Problem is, he wants to know what mine is worth.  I have a local guy (the guy that found me my car) to ask, because I know he would know.  But I figure I would ask you guys, too.  I think that mine is worth more, but I dont know, that is one sweet Charger.  They dont grow on trees anymore.

Info about my car here:

Thanks guys.

Have you been out there to see the Charger in person?I have always found that when people are selling cars like that they think there better than they are.

Forget it Steve ……………………….I just bought it  :poopoke:

Your car is worth more because it’s your car

Therefore, without a fender tag the pedigree is unknown.
None numbers car also

Your car should be 15000 maybe more  :dunno:
The charger maybe 8500.  :clueless:

:thinkerg: Cant you just buy the charger and keep your challenger  :ylsuper:

Or, buy the charger, sell the challenger and use the money from the sale of the challenger to make some serious progress and power on the charger.  I have to agree your challenger is worth more than that charger. Maybe if he came up with some cash and the charger it could work but otherwise I say no trade.

Thanks guys.  Oh there would be no way I would trade my car even with his, I know mine's worth more, but I dont know how much.  I was thinking mine was worth in the $15k range, also.  I have a decent chunk of change saved, (decent to me, small to others  :roflsmiley: ) but that is where it is going to stay, I really dont want to spend anything on any deal that I make.

I agree, he has to come up with some $$ if we would do this.  And I want someone to inspect it personally, like Chuck said.  Madison is 4 hours from here.  I've been there and back in a day, but it is a long one.   :eek4:  I do know that Chuck is in the area, hey Chuck...   :thinkerg:

lol, I know, but it is my favorite Plymouth.  It doesnt have any rust, and I wouldnt have to do a resto on it, thats what really appeals to me.

Well, I sent the guy detailed pictures of the problem spots on my car, and he said its worse than he thought (Thats what I keep telling everyone   :roflsmiley:  ) and said he'd get back to me with a $$ figure.  I think I'll pass on that one, I really dont want to spend $$ on any deal.

I did find a decent GTX:

Maybe I should add in my wanted ad that a '70 RR/GTX I would also be interested in...   :thinkerg:
