Somewhere I have some pictures of my EF8/V9J car.  I sanded throught he EF8 base color and found the lime green underneath.  So on my car at least, the stripe was painted before the body color.

Yup Purple / bronze stripe

I wonder if there is a link between the different paint application and the unusual colour?

could be but it still would not make sense to mask the whole car to paint the stripe

I didn't find the pictures on my hard drive, must be on a CD Rom some where.  My car has a SPD of October 5th 1969.  Which I think is a Sunday, so not sure why that is.  Its right on the build sheet.

Well Guys,

We cut part off the quarters to take a look and guess what I found.  A couple of things....Definately the Black for the BB Stripe was painted first and the FY1 yellow was on top.  Also according to the spec drawing from Chrysler, the stripe was to end at the cut-out for the bumper.  Mine went all the way down to the end of the quarter panel, behind the bumper area.  I will supply a pic soon.  Interesting stuff!!! :poopoke: :clueless:

I just posted new pics on the restoration subtitle on the site too.
