Cuda-Challenger made Mopar Action Magazine!!! MEK TOO!!!! (PIC!)

Hey guys - sure hope this isn't a repost...

I was getting ready for my trip to Florida and stopped to pick up a magazine - just something to fill that time when the airline nazis won't let you fart - never mind putting down a tray trable or reclining your seat a quarter-inch...

Anyhoo, found Mopar Action magazine.  Ever heard of it?  Neither had I...  Had the new "Factory Challenger Drag Car" on the cover in all her sexy blue and white graphics...  Anyways, flipping pages on the plane to Jacksonville, saw a familiar picture and backed up to the beginning of the article - page 44, "Fairground Follies."  A somewhat timely recap of the 08 All-Chrysler Nationals at Carlisle.

The funny part?  The first, half-page photo of the article showed - lo and behold - a pink and white striped tent with hanging "Cuda-Challenger.com" banners, a couple very familiar E-bodies (incluing yours truly's white '73) and even a couple guys gathering around a certain other member's purple 'Cuda Convertible.

The article itself didn't tell me anything I didn't already know (nothing about the Light & Sound Show hosted by the PA State Police.)

And no, MEK must have wandered off somewhere - he wasn't in the pic.

Definitely going to have to scan the pic and post it here for everyone . . . . me to see!  What month was the issue??  Yes of course we have all heard of Mopar Action Magazine . . . where have you beeen hiding??

Erm, THIS month...  Thus my comment on it being a "timely" article.

I kinda found the articles to be poor - employing a lot of what I call "old codger humor."  But that's just me.

Yeah Dave it was funny.  The chain of thought literally went "Oh yeah that's Carlisle.  Hey that's all the Ebodies...  Oh hey that's the tent!  Holy crap there's my car!!  Hey that's Dave's car too!!!!"

Followed by "HAH where's MEK?!?!?"

You're kidding about never hearing of that mag, right? You gotta get away from the computer once in a while!   

Yeah, the codger humor does get old. That's why I let my subscription lapse years ago. Nice that they still cover shows, unlike Mopar Muscle (whose subscription will NOT get renewed for that reason).

My collection of old mopar mags includes a bunch of Mopar Action issues. I got tired of their writing style years ago and the way they are always on the back of the other mopar magazines. They always had a big problem with High Performance Mopar and were always sucker punching them. I remember them getting all upset about the pink 340 'Cuda clone.    They do have good tech articles and how to's though.

Our tent was in the Cuda row this year, you dummy!!    Why would my car be by the tent?

Actually it says April 2009.  *shrug*  I guess they have a crystal ball or something - they're predicting the future.  If only it had weather reports and lottery numbers on the back page...

Is this a quarterly mag or something?  I dunno - I won't be subscribing.  When your review of an event shows up 6 months after the event did, you're not exactly doing me any favors.  Although I will say this - it's not as bad as the Viper Magazine.  As far as journalism skills go, that magazine is practically written by highschoolers...

MEK - the tent was with the 'Cudas.  You were often with the tent.  I wasn't looking for your CAR...  I was looking for YOU, sitting in your chair, hugging the pink doghouse I made for you...

I have no way of scanning the image here in Ohio.  I can try to do it when I get home to PA this weekend, but I wouldn't bet on my success.  My scanner hasn't been connected for 3 years.  I don't even know where the cables are.
