I own one. I'm embarrassed to post this, but it's what the interior of my '70 Chally looked like the day I got it. I don't have a more recent pic, but I assure you it's much nicer now!  ::)

Were you aware that your car is a Western Sport Special?

I have a friend back in Rochester with a Red AAR with bench seat. Kinda kills the look of a factory race car.

Yep Steve, I'm aware. The "Western Sport Special" decals on the rear quarters gave it away!  ;) :lol2:

Yeah, I read your intro post after I asked. Sorry, I get excited when I see WSS's.

They never built a bench seat 4-speed car since the seat wouldn't clear the shifter.

I have never seen a 4-speed bench seat e-body. I can't say one was ever built, but I can say that someone tried. I picked this up a few year off of eBay. I am posting it hoping someone might have more info, or even know the person who wanted the car. You never know what you might find out.

OK, I tried to upload a picture but the damn uploader is still hosed. I have an original purchase order dated 11-10-69 from Jim Vince Dodge in Wyandotte, MI. The purchaser (Lawrence Malkowski) ordered an FC7 Challenger R/T Hdtp.

Here are the options requested:
426 Hemi Engine
4-speed Manual
A34 Super Track Pack
Lift off Gas Cap
Rim Blow Steering Wheel
Black Vinyl Roof
Left Remote Control Mirror
AM/FM Stereo Radio
Tinted Glass (All)
F60x15 Raised White Letter tires
Collapsible Spare
Request Bench Seat (this is underlined twice and the top of the page shows FC7/H4X9)
Stripe Delete

Total price including tax and transfer was $4704.50 and Mr. Malkowski put down a $100 deposit.

I don't see why it couldn't be done with 71-74 B-body parts. Yes, the console type pistol grip is the same as E-body, but the bench seat/buckets w/buddy seat shifter is unique to 71-74 B-bodies. The two humps are different, too. The only problem I could forsee, is that the E-body dash might be deeper into the cabin and a "busted-knuckles" situation might ocurr.

Hey, ya never know.

I would love to find out more about the 4-speed bench seat situation. I've been meaning to compare my 71 4-speed, bucket seat cuda to my 71 benchseat cuda to see where the shifter would sit compared to the seat.  Currently, I have my bench seat 71 cuda stored on the four post lift with a 70 barracuda below it, but I guess I could climb up and get some measurements. Would be nice if I could find someone that had tried this before. It might save me a lot of time and money. Anyone?  :)

No problem Steve. I was just razzin' ya!  :poopoke:
Actually, I appreciate it when someone takes an interest in this car. Most people have no idea what it is and then turn their nose up at it when they realize it isn't an R/T...

Wild ... a blue rim blow in a bench seat car !!

Yep, the rim-blow was part of the WSS package, but the bench was optional. Basically a high-end car, but (in my case) with a 318.  :clueless:
A while back I ran into a gentleman in another forum who worked for Chrysler's coprorate office during the musclecar years and kept much of the factory literature and records from that time. I had him research my car and I was told the bench seat interior, in blue, in the WSS model, was very rare. Unfortunately, I don't have any numbers to substantiate that claim...

Over here in the UK there was a triple black JH23 383 4bbl (rare) with column shift and bench seat (makes it even more rare). Really nice car and I begged the owner not to change it but I think he ended up making it into a race car.

Back in the mid eighties i passed on a 71 Cuda 440-6 triple black column auto rallye hood car. It was a bit rusty, but complete and running. Guy wanted 5K for it, i did not even make an offer since i did not like the column auto deal. I often wonder what happend to that car ?
