Big block vette goes down
« on: May 22, 2002 - 06:15:00 AM »
I was 17 years old and driving my first car a 72 340 cuda with a built 340, as many people at this age I had very little resources so all the available funds went into the motor and the body stayed primer. Anyway i was hanging out at the local friendleys with friends when a real nice 69 vette pulled in it was an older guy in his 40's. So the guy gets out and starts talking to us about how fast his car is and that it was a 396 w/ turbo 400 blah blah blah... Then he makes a big mistake and says that his car could take any car in the lot even the piece of **** Cuda over there. Well my response to that was "I think your mouth wrote a check your ass can't cash" after that comment it was on!! so we agreed on a number and we where off to the parkway to run, you believe after all that mouth running he did he had the nerve to ask for the brake? anyway we ran straight up, from the get go I had him by half a car and at the end I had him by the same half a car. You know he never stopped after the race and my friends and I never saw him again. I guess getting beat by a little old 340 was too much for him to handle.

Yeah it was auto corrected ??? actually last night I took out my 71 340 cuda (the 72 was totalled by a hit and run in 1989, long story) and you'll never guess what happened. A kid in a little rice rocket tried to run up against me on the thruway going home from the cruise night, well needless too say he is now FRIED RICE :) or shoudl I say very burnt. These guys have no clue what power is it's not all HP it's TORQUE baby!!!!!!
