Yet another wheel combo...
« on: January 22, 2009 - 08:38:36 PM »
I have an 02 mustang as well as my challenger, so I decided to see how the mustang wheels fit/looked on the challenger today. I guess, if one had the time, he might polish them and make a nice combo? Anyway, the rear fit fine with about 1/2 inch clearance between the rear of the tire and the leaf spring. The front will not fit over the hub. It may be enough thickness to mill the wheel so it will go over the hub. Any suggestions/ideas?  :clueless: The rims are 17x8 and tire size is 245/45/17.

I have heard of people having the hubs milled on the mustangs. I'd bring a rotor and wheel to a machine shop and see what they say. i didn't want to mess with it so I went with the american racing wheels.

That has been a problem for years. The Mustang wheels have the same bolt pattern as a Mopar E-Body, but they won't fit over the disc brake hub. Yes, you can mill them if you want.

Don't slow your E-Body down with those ford rims.  The wheels need to have a little bit more of a dish to them to look right on the car IMHO.

I wish there was an easy way to make Mustang rims fit that front hub.  :( Those rims can be found for reasonable prices.   :grinyes:

I've got the same wheels...You will need at least a 1/2" spacer(actually adapter) for the front to clear the tie rid ends due to the extreme offset, this will solve the hub issue as well. The rears will look better also with a 1/2" adapter.   There are plenty of adapters available through 4x4 truck sites.

I have the same style rims on my car but they are 17x8 front and 18x10 rear with about a 1 1/2 inch lip.
