It can be done and it can be streetable. It's just a matter of how bad you want it. Notice it's those who don't have it and settled
for less whom say it can't be done. If you can fabricate a little and have the patience then go for it. Pete

I think the problem most of us have that recommend against it is the combination of "easiest" and "cheap".  I haven't seen anyone say flat out that it can't be done, because we know it can, just look at Jason (Stroker).  If you go cheap, no way will it last, and easy just isn't possible when you're talking those kinds of numbers.

For what it is worth this is what I have into my engine alone.... $15,042.08 and that is for the best parts.....I keep a spreadsheet of everything I ever bought for the whole car...

Ill probably spray the last 250HP with a fogger kit and that will cost me $1200 quoted from Monte Smith ... to date the only thing that has happened to my engine is a broken Kmotion K1000 spring about $25 fix... has never overheated street driving or anything..... but that comes at a price also... $1000+ be cool rad system etc... custom $1100 domiantor....you get the point.....


It certainly dont cost $100,000 do it but it is exspensive!

the best wat to make 1000hP is Nitrous and a Procharger.. basically a poweradder,,

Cheapest way is a 2 stage fogger...

My future plans are a race block and a procharger....... 


"easiest" and "cheap".  defiantely dont go together.......... but the best way to go about this is buy someones proven car already done and let them take the loss.....  :dunno:

I'll agree with the above and say that 1000 streetable horsepower is certainly achieveable, but like I said before, cheap becomes relative and is probably directly inversely proportional to the lifespan of the engine.

Lets say for example you have an 440 with a forged crank, stock forged rods, you put some forged slugs in it and premium fasteners with some ported stock heads, just a good basic performance rebuild with nothing fancy. This is maybe a $5000-8000 build depending on how much work you can put into it yourself. Then put a big huffer or a couple of hair dryers on it for another $5000-7000, and a multi stage nitrous set up for a couple grand, and your at 1000 hp for $12,000 to 18,000. Certainly not a fortune, but is that still in the realm of cheap for you?

Then there are the aspect of streetable and longevity. So long as you don't spin the pee out it, it certainly may live for a while. IMO, rpm is harder on an engine than the boost would be, but, big amounts of boost over time will fatigue the stock parts and you had better have a regular tear down and inspect scheduled to catch problems before they become catastrophic.

Like others have mentioned, there is also all the support systems around it that will need stepped up to maintain the streetable aspect. Bigger cooling system, stronger clutch, stronger rear, stronger chassis, etc. If there are guys on here singing the blues about how their 318 4bbl has cracked the leaded seams in the a pillars, then a 1000 horses will turn a quarter panel into a taco.

1000 hp is not an impossible feat, but will require a fair amount of money, a fair amount of engineering, or decent amount of both to get there.

It was 2.1MPG...... but the main reason for that is cause I cruise around in 1 all the time out on the blvd. etc keeping the revs up ... In D on the highway I am sure it would be much more..... or If I cruised around in D .......... but my power to weight ratio is going up so it may be better  :lol2:

Don't know if it is cheap but it's close to 1000 hp and it really screams. It is also naturally aspirated.

how many gas stations would you stop at running around? Easy then becomes a personal thing. Stopping 24/7 to fill up is a pain in the ass.

Yes you can build anything you want as a street car. 1000hp, 2000hp etc. Doesnt mean its a street car simply because ït works on the road. You gotta count comfort (which is relative to what you personaly like, hard or soft etc) then you gotta count for how far can you drive before spending $50-100 to fill the gas tank up, then you gotta count how loud is the thing, can you carry stuff in it, can it be used for a nice cruise etc etc. All factors that make up a "street" car.


wow, easy tiger. as far as how often i stop, its how big of a tank i have, and how i have my foot in it.
as far as comforts go, i believe im spartan. i prefer the sound of my engine to music, lighting is legally sanctioned, and driveability is my skill. theres always someone bigger, badder, smarter, faster. my mill is nothing compared to some ive seen, and driven around with. if you think about what you just said, you really cant make any sense of it.
sounds to me the whole whats a street car crapole again and again. y'know, its never gonna end. ive built many cars, from full restored classics, to full chassis cars and everything in between, and ive heard your exact same argument every step of the way.

sorry to hang long on this, but i guess theres a reason my cars are so loud now.....

To me, the great "street car" equalizer is pump gas.  If the car meets lighting, sound, horn, wipers......... that's one thing. It could be a street car.  If it meets the above and runs strictly on gas available at any commercial pump, (93 octane) then it qualifies as a street car.  It would be tough to build a 1000 HP N/A car that will make those numbers on pump gas.  I am talking pump gas with zero octane booster or mixing with race gas.    :2cents:

1000hp on pump gas is easy. Not cheap, but easy. I'd go with a B wedge World block, and go from there. Keeping the cubes down to 500ish, and running a small twin turbo, I dont think it would be an issue. but, plumbing up a turbo setup on top of Predators, then making headers to fit, then adding a driveline and fuel ssytem plus electronics to handle it... That gets time consuming ang expensive. It's one of those "If you have to ask how much, you can't afford it". If you want the result, the cost doesnt matter. If the cost matters, you should question the result you want. I know of 4.6L mustangs making over 700hp that way. That's 2.5hp/inch that idles all day, gets stock milage so long as your foot stays out of it, and runs cold AC. Not cheap, but definately doable.

Now NA, pump gas, and 1000hp, is much harder. I like eddie, but there's nothing that vodoo about his engine. He is very, very skilled. But not immortal.

As far as street cars go, if the driver doesnt get arrested, and he's happy with it, and it's on the public roads, it's a street car. If someone disagrees, that's cool too. but "street car" ends up being my rules for my car.
