Hey Cuda Guy,
One example was a guy I used to race. His Duster 440 was pretty much stock. He did have traction bars, a no-no on Mopars! Even Mopar Performance says not to use them. Anyway, he did have Nitrious Oxide NO2 and slicks.
He always ran hi 11's, low 12's depending on track and weather conditions. And as my car, this was at hi altitude!
And then there was me. A reasonably built 440, normal aspiration carb, ported 906 heads, subframe connectors, 3000 stall convertor, street tires running 12:60's down to 12:45 Et.
This friend, was told by Chryco numerous times, to at least port the heads. He always said no.
Well, a few yrs. later, he had his engine "professionaly" rebuilt, with who knows what! He bragged about how he had spent Mega $ on the engine.
So, the next season at the track...he actually ran slower than me!
No disrespect to him, just a very hard lesson. In fact I really like his car! A Panther pink 72 Duster 440.
I just wish he would have listened to logic. but what can you do? Now he had all this $ tied up in a slower car. I really feel for him, it could happen to anyone if not careful! Research and pre planning pave the road to results! Sometimes more impressive than expected as in my case, but still, you are on the right track Cuda! Keep researching and planning! You'll do it and do it right in the end!!!
