Old Project E-bodies

I bought my current project '71 cuda 20 years ago. Hasn't been driven since then.  How old are your projects? Not 'parts' cars.

I bough mine and drove it a little but not too much just to see if it would or not.  I know it will look and run better after I get it done now for sure and I can not wait to get started on it!!!!!!!
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

I bought mine 3 years ago. It was sitting in the desert for 12 years. It was beyond nasty..
I wore a mask when I was in it. It was a basket case. I barely sat in it. I only sat in it to tear it apart.
Never drove a Challenger. Only rode in one.
My car is closer to a shell than anything.

I figure maybe this coming year I might get it in paint and start throwing some parts in it.
That was I can at least sit in it.

My cuda race car has been off the road sine 1993. My 68 dart I had was off the road from 70 till this day as a race car. My current 70 barracuda was off the road and apart from 73 through 2007. But it is on the road now

My 70 gets driven. My "new" 73 has an inspection sticker dated 1986. It will be on the road again some time this year as a driver/project. That's the plan, anyway.  :swaying:

Another member here has one of my old cars that I'd like to buy back (70 R/T-S.E.). It was wrecked in 74 and is finally going back together after being parted/hacked.

I've had the '73 Challenger Ralley 340 since '75 (22K miles) and was my 1st car. We were in a wreck in '79 (49K miles). Had front cap replaced by '81 and while she was drivable & I kept tags & insurance through '89 I have not really used the car in 25 years. Last time she was driven was when we moved in '90 then not started again until Oct. 30  '06. Since then I have been working on what I call a makeover.

At least 15 years. My R/T SE was picked up by Royal Oak, Michigan PD back in 1993 after being tagged as an abandoned vehicle. Next sold at a police auction. I purchased the Challenger from the auction winner and took possesion January 1994. Better days ahead for this orphan.

I have had my 70 Challenger for 2 years next month and it has been off the road the entire time I have had it. Before then it has been off the road since 1981 when it was in the accident. It will likely be off the road for a couple more years as I don't go up to Redding (where the car is located) very often to work on it and I need the money to build the car right because I only want to go through it once.

My cuda got parked for 21 years after I lost the tranny in it. I got it runnng again 2 summers ago and then last summer I striped it all down for a paint job. A couple of unexpected medical situation got in the way of getting it done then. Hope to be back on the road again this summer.

My T/A has been off the road since '99, though it wasn't licensed for probably 10 years prior to that.  I'd fire it up, get its insurance up to date, throw plates from another car on it from time to time prior to '99 and drive it a bit (illegal I know  :misbehaving:).  Started disassembling it in '99 for its ground up restoration, and it went in to the shop that fall, and hasn't been back home since.  Hoping its restoration gets finished someday, but health problems on the part of the restorer and career problems/in and out of work for me over the last 6 years have made it a back burner project.

Mine was a daily driver until '96.  Parked till now.  Will get inspection, insurance, tags, etc this year.  Will get some Rallye's, tires, and get mechanicals back in order.  After that, save up for paint.

Great question to ask.  I have had mine for 5 years now and have never driven it.  It was parked in a garage when I bought it and according to the last owner, was taken out once or twice a year just to clear it out.

Hey, R/T hedkace, is that a Challenger stationwagon you have there?  Just kidding.
