Fastest Quick Draw

This guy may sound like he is bragging……. Well he is bragging….. But he can back it up…. So maybe that’s not really bragging but more of just stating a fact…

P.S.   I used to be almost this fast… And I have a hole in my bedroom dresser to prove it… That happened so quick I did not even see it… ;)

Bob Munden was extremely fast with a shotgun too, and probably hasn't slowed down much as he's gotten older! We used to have national fast draw competitions here in Deming back in the 80's, it was quite a thing to watch. There was an old guy who lived here named Bob Dudley who was a national competitor but you would never know it by looking at him. He looked like a retired school teacher and just kind of got into fast draw by accident, before that he wasn't really interested in guns! He could draw and fire 5 rounds that sounded like one shot by fanning the hammer with his thumb, forefinger, little finger, then thumb and little finger again. The reason for 5 shots was because the single action guns used are never loaded with a live round under the hammer. He passed away several years ago, but the World Fast Draw Association still lists him as holding a world record.

After reading the Sports Illustrated article on him, he sounds more like a legend in his own mind.

I've seen a few fast draw contests, amazing !

I'll let you guys in on some little known facts about the guns they use. The hammer spur is modified so it sits up above the topstrap, and the barrel and cylinder are aluminum. They only shoot blanks or wax bullets so they can get away with using the lighter aluminum components. The barrel also doesn't have any front sight blade. The holsters are also very low cut in the front and have a sheetmetal liner between the inner and outer leather so the holster doesn't really grip the gun any.

The first thing you do is to grind off the front site, modify the holster and lube it. Using lead or FMJ projectiles would definetly jam in the gun barrel causing serious injury to the shooter.
There is only one recorded incedent of anything resembling a street gun fight and it was Wild Bill who shot 2 different people, one in front of him and the other behind him.

Terry, usually the cameras are mounted on a tripod and remote controlled.

OK,I know they use blanks, but if they are enough to pop a balloon, they could certainly mess up an eye or something.

:iagree: Like I said, the cameras are remote controlled. Usually they don't even use wax bullets on those exhibitions you see. The blanks put out enough muzzle blast to pop the balloons at 6 feet or so. The gun doesn't even have to be pointed directly at the balloon, just close!
