Well I figured I would start a thread like everyone else showing there restoration projects on their car. My process will be a little different, I will be doing one thing at a time with my car. This is because im young and still in college, cant keep anymore than 1k in the bank at one time(car parts). Also really dont have a steady job except for summers.
Well for those who really dont know who I am, my name is Dave. I am 19 and am attending Alfred State College for automotive, learning what I love doing.
I live in Buffalo NY. I was born here but moved to Highlands Ranch Colorado(near Denver) in the 2nd grade because my dad got a killer job offer. We lived there for about 8 years and I loved it there. I always enjoyed going to Bandimere Speedway for the Mopar Nationals. My dad used to have a 1970 Challenger SE when he was my age, but sold it so he could pay for college. While at the Mopar Nationals he would always get real pissed that he sold it. So he went hunting and we found my Challenger. First thing we did was change the old air shocks in it, that when the mopar bug bit me
. We moved back to buffalo in 2003 because my dad had gotten layed off from his job and found work as a business manager at our old church. We brought the car back with us(thank god because he was going to sell it since we turned short on money). Went through HS and on the day I had passed my road test for my drivers license he gave the keys of the Challenger to me and told me it was mine.
Well now you guys know about me, ill give you the history of my car while I have had it.
It is currently painted Top Banana Yellow, had a black vinyl top until weather had its way with it and the metal underneath it
.
It originaly came with a 318 but was replaced with a rebuilt 360 by the previous owner.
Some of the work I have done on it so far started with a aluminum eddy intake and Holley carb, moved onto headers and a full exhaust. I also replaced the old AM radio with a new Kenwood sterio, along with a pair of JBL 6x9s in the back powered by some real old amp i got from my friend.
Fall and winter while at school I had the chance to rebuild my engine and trany. I had planned to just bore my motor and throw a bigger cam into it. Then I said what the hell. Went out and ordered my parts to build a 408 stroker(thanks to student loan money
). I built the trany to hold the new found power of my car.
Thanks to anyone that wanted to take the time to read the story of my life, Ill post a ton of pics later tonite or tomorrow.
My hunger is calling me
