Another model----Some finished pics.
« on: January 28, 2009 - 07:29:55 PM »
Not a MOPAR but a Ford (PU at least). I had bought this kit to get the trailer. Since the truck was an extra for me I decided to use it for an experiment on a new weathering tech. that I had wanted to try. I plan to build a couple more dios of old vehicles beside barns or abandoned out in a weed field. I might try and sell some of these if they work out.  Well the first try did'nt work so I tried another technique useing salt.  Here's some progress shots for now to look at for all those who are stuck inside fron the cold.  Stay tuned for more.   ;D

Doug, please give me some info on the salt technique. I'm working on a '70 Challenger convertible right now and that technique looks promising.

That looks pretty realistic to me.  My 11 year-old son said "Tell him 'You're very creative with your models."  :2thumbs:

I think those are awesome.  There is something about a model of an old rusty car or truck that I like.  Even better than the restored ones.  Must be the character they have.

A few years ago I was in a store (Target or something) and they had die cast models of the Vanishing Point Challenger.  What was cool was that they had both the clean one and the "after" one where it was all dirty and dusty.  I suppose they could have also done one of it in its final scene but that would have been harder to display.  I thought it was cool that they did the dirty one though.

Keep up the good work.  Love the pictures.

This is almost finished. Got to add some stuff to the bed and a few other little details. I put this on an old base I had just to see how it might look. I am going to build a different scene ---- more of a field with a ditch bank running through it???   Greg's HO tell your son thanks.   :grinyes:

That's outstanding work   :clapping:  I think the shanty needs to look more dilapidated, though.

your work is amazing.  is that yellow t/a for crazy pete post accident scene, i think that would be neat if i got in a wreck and you could duplicate the damage onto a model then put it on the shelf with a pic behind it of the before i fixed it back up to better than it was. unless the car was a total loss than i wouldnt want to remember it at all.

Great looking work, Doug!  Looks soooooooooo real!  :grinyes:  I don't have the patience/room for diaramas.  You have great detail!  Once I finish a model I just move on to something else.

Keep up the great work!!!

GEEZUS....  The patience...  Unbelievable.  That looks so hard I'm not even INTERESTED in trying!!  :)

I thought my model of a Road Runner with a Viper engine was impressive...  (No, it's still not finished...)
