Challenger Speaker Install, was: Re-pop dash pad.
« on: January 28, 2009 - 09:00:39 PM »
Hey,

Text in bold below was modified

I just received my new dash pad.  It looks really good but I have a few questions.  I noticed that the scres holes for the A/C and speakers aren't there and will have to be drilled out.  No big deal, but is this normal?  The main question I have is that I have the 3 speaker dash and it looks like the speaker holes were just jig-sawed out by a template.  Is this normal?

Since my original dash didn't have the 3 speakers, I don't know how they mount.  There are no screw holes, just the main speaker holes.  How do the outer speakers mount?

Anyone who has one of these new pads have any wisdom to impart for my project?

I thought I'd attach a few photos of what it looks like straight out of the box.

Looks pretty typical for a repop to me unfortunately. I would check and see how everything fits. I know on mine the lower plastic trim did not fit well against the pad and I had to cut the pad to get the trim to fit right.

I think the trimming will be fine but I'd really like to know how to mount the two smaller speakers to their respective holes.  Also, what type of speakers fit in there including grille.

I've updated the subject since I'm specifically looking for the install method of the 2nd and 3rd speakers in the dash.  Thanks again.

Here goes:

1st you need the bracket and the grill. The bracket attaches to the botom side of the dash. The grill attaches to the bracket.

Looks pretty nice, who's the vendor?  I have a factory 3-speaker dash, unfortunately it's at my Mom's house.  I'll have to takes some pics next time I go see her.

I'm sure someone else will provide some info long before that happens unfortunately.

Thanks, that clears it up a lot.  So, where is the best place to acquire these speakers/grilles/brackets etc?

Also, my dash is an Ultimate Rides unit I got from Dantes.  It looks great and I'm excited about it being in the car.  It'll make my shell look more like a real car.

Ebay has some usually. I don't know if there are some special 70 Challenger only parts like the center speaker grill and other dash parts.
