Low performance dream cars, what are yours?
« on: January 30, 2009 - 05:41:11 PM »
I know most folks lust after the Hemis, 440-6, & 340-6 cars, but I find myself drawn more & more to the lowlier cars. I already have a 318 powered 1970 Coronet 4-door that is going to stay that way, green interior & all.

Other cars in original, unmodified I would like to find one day if the money ever allows it;

1970 Barracuda with the M46 option.

1970 Challenger with the A93 coupe option.

1970 Valiant 4-door.

1970 Dodge pickup truck.

If any of them come with a /6 & three speed, even better, color not important.

What tickles your fancy in a low powered stocker?  :dunno:

I forgot about wagons. There was a 1970 Coronet wagon on Ebay a while back with a /6, I would have loved to have that one.

One of the Aussie wagons or Ute models would be sweet too.

I passed a sweet looking '72(?) Dart on the freeway today with four young guys cruising, windows down, just enjoying another gorgeous day in paradise (It's 75 degrees, today, not a cloud in the sky.)  Metallic copper brown with a white bumblebee stripe, dog dishes and you know it had the leaning tower of power under the hood.  :2thumbs:

Other Mopars:

Another '71-74 Satellite four-door with a 318, like the one I owned in the early 90's.  Mine looked just like the one in the photo, except it was beat up.

A 60's B-body wagon.  That '63 330 that George (toomanyprojects) is selling is way cool!

Not really low powered, but a mid-60's C-body convertible with a 361 or 383 would be a cool cruiser.

A slant-six or 318 68-69 Barracuda, preferably with a manual transmission.

A late-60's/early 70's D200 crewcab 4x4

Others:
I have one of them - my '87 Civic is a great little around-town daily driver - light, agile, zippy, economical but not near fast enough to get in trouble.  I'd love to get a later-model Civic to turn into a good roadrace or autocross car.  I'd convert mine, but there isn't much in the way of performance parts for the 3G Civics.

I like the late-60's Mustangs.  A 289 or 302 powered stocker would be cool.

When I was a kid, my mom had two cars that I really liked.  We had a 1964 Nova station wagon with the six in it.  Those early Nova/Chevy II's are way cool.

The other was a '71 VW bus that I learned how to drive a stickshift in.  I'd like to have either a Westfalia camper or a '60s 21 window van.  I don't know if I'd want to keep the stock engine though - a little too underpowered.

69 plymouth belvedere 318 column 3 speed.  It was mine years ago but I realised too late it was an awesome car to drive...  just looking out for bigblocks back then... and now I have a bb and I wish I kept the 318  :misbehaving:

last week I puchased a 1978 bmw 728 to replace my daily 525. Looks like it comes pretty close to my dream lp car... :2thumbs:

I had a 93 NY'er with a 3.0 liter V-6. One of the best cars I've ever owned. Would love another for the everyday sleigh, but it would be tough hauling lumber or engines in one.
My name is Steve and I'm addicted to Challengers...

I'd love to have my silver/black '78 Challenger back again. Neat little buggie. I only sold it because it didn't have AC.   :sadwavey:

I want a real 20 footer. A two door Imperial. Either a late 50's version with a bumper that weighs as much as a Miata or a full blown 70's gas guzzler with power ashtrays. Must have velour seats.

67 Belvedere II with 318. Great body lines with no performance expectations. Just cruise all day in style.

A custom van that survived the 70's.

There was a 70 barracuda that I would have loved to have that was factory panther pink but had the small /6 and 3 speed manual, and on here in the cars for sale there is a 71 barracuda with a /6, A93 package, oranage with orange interior, with a bulge hood.
